    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Alder Hey Hospital full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good opportunity to learn new skills, new building, friendly atmosphere, up to date policies and guidelines on meditech, leading ultimately to significant gains for the future of the NHS.

    Cons

More lockers would be beneficial for staff in the critical care unit as there are lots of staff working in the unit.

    Advice to Management

This is a great hospital to work in as a newly qualified staff, as there is always new things to learn. Evaluation forms of the children and families experience at alder hey are a good way of keeping up with positive outcomes for future gains for children at Alder Hey Hospital.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Alder Hey Hospital as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Paediatric orientated and caring professionals. Recognised as a leading authority in many specialties. Brans new hospital and EPR.

    Cons

Inability to culturally move forward into modern work practices and weak leadership to achieve this

    Advice to Management

Get strong and move the culture forward as a matter of urgency. Lead, drive and deliver!

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

Quality of health care provided at Alder Hey to children
    Equality & Diversity
    Sense of humour of staff

    Cons

Doesn't feel like it's working as a cohesive whole.
    Back-biting, politics and in-fighting.
Staff taken for granted, asked to do more and more work with no extra money.
    Lack of communication.
Bosses know where to find you when they want something doing, other than that, you can forget it.

    Advice to Management

Leadership from the Board seems patronising.
Defensive at staff critisism, even when asking for feedback from staff.
A 'Mother knows best' attitude seems to be rife. Staff are told what to do and that's the end of it.
Don't take your staff for granted.
