    Dead End Growth

Jul 30, 2021 - Stock Coordinator in Los Angeles, CA

    Pros

I was able to work with some great people in different locations across Michigan, and California during my time.

    Cons

Very limited growth and many empty promises. Store Managers, District Managers, Regional Managers have mentioned they would assist me with my growth and development. I've started as Stock Coordinator and moved through Keyholder and Assistant Store Manager positions but was never taken seriously. I ended up opting to move back into a full-time Stock Coordinator position to protect my mental health from the toxicity of fellow managers. I've found myself training new hires and Store Managers on my own. I've been moved around through different locations because of my skin color and appearance. I was thought to be one ethnicity and moved to "connect with the client" in a different location. I was often overlooked. In my 5 years of working at Aldo, I've had a total of 11 different Store Managers, 3 different District Managers, and 3 different Regional Managers. I've been harrassed by a Regional Manager and hit on by a District Manager.

    Poor Place to Work At

Jul 10, 2021 - Stock Associate in New York, NY
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

The only pros here is that you can expect to be paid, and they pretty much hire anyone.

    Cons

Cons are: -Paid every 2 weeks. (If you are part time and get no hours, you're pretty much getting paid nothing or not enough depending on your circumstance.) -Your coworkers could be a mix of people who will actually work, to people who just show up and get nothing done, and it usually is the latter (Stock associate experience). -The managers are hit or miss, with it leaning towards a miss. -Favoritism in the higher ranks above the store manager. (A former store manager that had quit to start their own business, failed, came back and stole the position from the current acting store manager at the time from the help of the current acting district manager at the time. And then almost immediately promoted to a district manager without actually putting in work.) -If you're a stock associate/manager, there is almost nobody available to work, because they have quit, or are leaving, or the store is dedicated the store hours to the floor positions even with the outstanding amount of work you would have to do by yourself. -Upper management doesn't actually know how to conduct themselves. They'll say they can't do something because of certain restriction, but then do that very thing they said they could not do. -They work very counter productively. Shipment could either be labeled or not labeled, and occasionally give no knowledge of what you'll be receiving. All you would know, is that you're getting shipment and that would be "enough information". Without knowing what you're supposed to be getting, or in which boxes the things are located in, becomes a hassle when you're expected to rearrange more than 5000+ units of things (depending on your store size) either everyday, or every two days, by yourself more than half the time. And not only are you responsible for all of that during your shift, you also have to retrieve the shoes/items the people on the floor are requesting at the same time. So time spending having to move and rearrange the stock, is taken away by having to clamor around and look for products because more than half the time you're on your own (As a stock associate). -Any incentive that they make is not dedicated towards stock workers. They have these rewards, and events, but none dedicated to working stock, only sales floor. Being a stock worker in Aldo is pretty much a dead end job, even though they claim you could "move up".
