I worked at Alkermes full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, Every month there will be something to celebrate (free Breakfast or lunch) Christmas Bonus.

    Cons

Managers, Some employees slack and get away with it by playing minority card. Management is scared of some senior experienced employees who are lazy and slackers.

    Advice to Management

There are many hard working, loyal, honest employees who are not recognised by Supervisors and Managers. Take care of them before they all start quitting.

    A little slow to move.
Limited accountability. Would like to see different departments collaborate more.
    Executive presence could be improved.

    Advice to Management

Would like to hear from top execs more often and more directly about the strategy of the company and its progress

I have been working at Alkermes (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is a lot of room for growth. Most of the people here are friendly and easy to talk to. For the most part everyone wants to help each other out.

    Cons

There can be some political problems among faculty. There is room for growth but it almost seems like there is a high turnover rate.

    Advice to Management

Involve your workers in decision making. There are a lot of people here with scientific backgrounds who went to school for a reason. Listen to them and take advantage of their education.

    I worked at Alkermes full-time

    Pros

High pay, fulfilling work. You know you are making a difference in patients' lives.

    Cons

No support from management--no training, very little interaction with coworkers, no sharing of best practices, and the same goes for managers so bad ones don't get better. Touchpoints is terrible--salespeople have to monitor them constantly or orders slip through the cracks!

    Advice to Management

Just because you hire seasoned sales people doesn't mean you don't need to train them! There needs to be structure, templates for expected duties and someone modeling best practices...there needs to be more sharing of ideas and strategies.

    Cons

Overlapped timeline, lack of project level leadership, awful commute, no weekly WFH day, no stock bonus below certain level, relative new programming team and even the whole biometrics team

    Pros

As far as corporate offices go, it's a good balance of working hard and playing hard. People are generally cordial and down-to-earth, although due to the merger with EDT, expansion is causing the social atmosphere to stiffen.

    Cons

It is located off of Rt 95 smack in between 90 (the Mass Pike) and Route 2 - it's the intersection of some of the worst traffic in Massachusetts. There is no room to grow as an employee...in my 7 years there, none of my contemporaries developed into a larger role. You cannot become a manager or director here unless you already are one from prior experience.

    Advice to Management

Give employees the ability to grow. It is near impossible to grow out of a low level role here.
