      Pros

The nurses at AGH are apart of a union, which means that the hospital has rules they have to keep, such as keeping nurse to patient ratios down, providing nurses with great insurance/retirement benefits, sick time, vacation time, and more. Being at AGH, I have experienced some things I never would have thought I would get the chance to see/do.

      Cons

Union dues each month. The ability to get pulled to other units at the hospital that aren't properly staffed.

      Pros

The healthcare benefits were good and the management was kind.

      Cons

There weren't enough people working the evening shift, and they really needed to hire more people.

      Pros

Friendly staff, good opportunities to learn since it is a teaching hospital. There are different unit committees to get involved in which is a good way to make your voice heard. Good opportunities to advance in your nursing career. They provide BLS and ACLS training.

      Cons

Staffing has been a consistent issue on my unit.

      Terrible Culture

      Jan 21, 2021 - Radiologic Technologist
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Higher pay than most local hospitals

      Cons

      - Union contract so while the pay is good, terrible employees who manage not to get fired also get the same raise as hard working employees - Shuttle service to parking garage is terrible on afternoon shifts, you have to show up extremely early to make it to work on time - Very poor radiation safety practices, techs are frequently exposed in situations where it could easily be prevented - High turnover rate, department is usually understaffed, so staff works excessive overtime, and works alone in situations where you should have a partner for the safety of both the tech and the patient
