I have been working at Allegheny Health Network full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Was in financial trouble but recovered & growing. Backed by the area BC/BS franchise.

    Cons

Mostly aging physical plants & equipment. Also about 10 years behind on nursing standards & HR policies. Rotating shift work is very problematic for many & provides no real benefit to productivity.

    Advice to Management

AHN is heading the right way now but must invest more in core services. Some plans have been announced but more will be needed. UPMC is a beast to compete with so maximum effort is required.

I have been working at Allegheny Health Network full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Great coworkers, quick hiring process. Decent pay and benefits package. Large organization that has many job opportunities at any given time. There's a spot for many different employment needs.

    Cons

Same trouble as with most health care settings, short on staff. Not the highest pay grade in the area. Some areas can have a lot of staff turn over but that happens with a lot of organizations.

I have been working at Allegheny Health Network for more than 6 years

    Pros

Exposure to multiple units and care settings.

    Cons

No leadership from management. Pulled frequently to other units without any orientation. Come in on your day off and get pulled to another floor. Parking is a joke. Raises are far and few between. Benefits are poor.

I have been working at Allegheny Health Network

    Pros

    Little down staffing, free parking

    Cons

Benefits seem lacking, feel unappreciated. Often understaffed. Occasional lunches we would, likely benefit from a union. Things only seem to change in the direction of less staff more responsibility. No real concern for employee well being, and with pts leaving before being seen or discharged probably doesn't save the hospital money. It was much better before highmark and upmc east

I have been working at Allegheny Health Network

    Pros

Close to home, 8-hour shifts available. still challenging patients around and a few nice people to work with.

    Cons

Benefits declining, salary declining, leadership weak, corporate values confusing, disorganized, supplies lacking. How much of this is the decline of healthcare as we know it?

    Advice to Management

Try to stay connected with staff and do not become dis-enfranchised.
