I worked at Allegheny Intermediate Unit 3 (Less than a year)

    Pros

I had a lot of fun working at this school! Staff was very cooperative and always made me feel welcome.

I worked at Allegheny Intermediate Unit 3 full-time

    Pros

Workday done at 3:30/4:00 -do paperwork at home. Working with kids.

    Cons

No benefits- Only paid per student treated, no paid holidays, no sick or vacation days, no health benefits, required to use IPads but OT/PT workers have to pay for wifi, they oversee & signoff on work schedules & no allowance in schedules for lunch or break, don't pay for required continuing education, only allowed to bill time allotted to tasks/writing so don't get paid for complex cases, planning or admin tasks, no budget for school supplies -pay out of pocket, no Union

    Advice to Management

Appreciate ur staff otherwise u will only attract prifessionals just out of school w/o valuable experience

I worked at Allegheny Intermediate Unit 3 full-time

    Pros

Some really nice people work here who genuinely care about the children and the communities they serve.

    Cons

Management has ruined a once great place to work and a great support service to the community. The AIU used to be the largest IU in the state and was outgrowing even its new building. Now people are fleeing like rats from a sinking ship.

    Advice to Management

Quit, same advice to the Board, quit. Turn this organization over to some professionals who know how to run an organization, not some ex-elementary school princpal.

I worked at Allegheny Intermediate Unit 3 full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits- excellent health insurance and plenty of paid sick/vacation leave.

    Great coworkers.

    Cons

Management out of touch with day to day duties of staff, when I left the company my manager had a meeting with me to ask what I did so that she could replace me.

Manager often contacted me at home, even on weekends with problems that could have easily waited for normal working hours to be solved.

Poor HR, my benefits package and salary were never explained to me. I submitted many documents two or three times over my time with company because they were "missing from my file".
