I worked at Allen Tate full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Training is good. If you're a newly licensed agent, it's a good place to start your career. You will learn a lot.

    Cons

While training is good, commission split is the worst in the industry in this area. You will pay a lot to Allen Tate for very little in return. This firm offers little value for the amount that you will pay them. There is no flexibility for an agent to run his or her own business as he or she sees fit.

    Advice to Management

Eliminate your corporate overhead that agents pay so much for but receive no benefit from.

    Cons

Distance from home is 1 hr both ways and the pay.

    Advice to Management

Pay your valuable employees enough to keep them.

I have been working at Allen Tate part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I've worked in the Allen Tate - Wake Forest office for 7 years and it is a terrific team environment! The very experienced broker in charge is dedicated to helping all of her agents succeed, teaching them what she knows, and cares very much about the entire staff. The company has a stellar reputation and provides all kinds of training courses as well, and I have seen both brand new & experienced agents grow their businesses and succeed!

    Cons

You have to cross the street to get to Starbucks.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I have been working at Allen Tate full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The culture here is like being in a large, diverse family. Everyone brings something different to the table and they seem to all want to help you succeed and get along. Regardless of what level your at, you're supported 100% here. BIC has an open door policy and is readily available for face-to-face dialog.

    Cons

Phone duty required 2x month for everyone. We do get leads, but wish it wasn't required.

    Cons

The split is not as high as some other companies, however, the people you work with are not all sharks out for only themselves.

    Advice to Management

    Super managment, super opportunity.

I have been working at Allen Tate full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

trusted brand, leadership is visionary and takes interest in personal and professional success of their agents

    Cons

I don't have any cons....the company provides great support and resources, and it is up to the agent to actually use them....that is the "independent" part of being an independent contractor

I worked at Allen Tate full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

name recognition, marketing opportunities, nice people

    Cons

training is good but support sucks. The BIC management favors seasoned brokers and can't be bothered to mentor or provide real life experience to new people. Do NOT use Tate Accelerate. You won't make any money the first year anyway (a direct quote from the BIC) so why buy up your cut and commit yourself to activities that might not match your goals? The smartest agent I met was one who kept EVERYTHING off of the company website, created a different e-mail and refused to sign a contract.

    Advice to Management

Update your management plan, cut the arrogance and start cultivating the millennials that you publicly criticize. Re-structure your fee schedule. Consider the changing face of real estate *gasp.* Could it be that you are failing because your new people are failing? Think about your business model. This is not 1950 anymore.
