I have been working at Allen Tate part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I've worked in the Allen Tate - Wake Forest office for 7 years and it is a terrific team environment! The very experienced broker in charge is dedicated to helping all of her agents succeed, teaching them what she knows, and cares very much about the entire staff. The company has a stellar reputation and provides all kinds of training courses as well, and I have seen both brand new & experienced agents grow their businesses and succeed!

    Cons

You have to cross the street to get to Starbucks.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I have been working at Allen Tate full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The culture here is like being in a large, diverse family. Everyone brings something different to the table and they seem to all want to help you succeed and get along. Regardless of what level your at, you're supported 100% here. BIC has an open door policy and is readily available for face-to-face dialog.

    Cons

Phone duty required 2x month for everyone. We do get leads, but wish it wasn't required.

    Pros

Amazing training program, fun co workers. Opportunity for growth is high. Positive work environment.

    Cons

The split is not as high as some other companies, however, the people you work with are not all sharks out for only themselves.

    Advice to Management

    Super managment, super opportunity.

I worked at Allen Tate full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

name recognition, marketing opportunities, nice people

    Cons

training is good but support sucks. The BIC management favors seasoned brokers and can't be bothered to mentor or provide real life experience to new people. Do NOT use Tate Accelerate. You won't make any money the first year anyway (a direct quote from the BIC) so why buy up your cut and commit yourself to activities that might not match your goals? The smartest agent I met was one who kept EVERYTHING off of the company website, created a different e-mail and refused to sign a contract.

    Advice to Management

Update your management plan, cut the arrogance and start cultivating the millennials that you publicly criticize. Re-structure your fee schedule. Consider the changing face of real estate *gasp.* Could it be that you are failing because your new people are failing? Think about your business model. This is not 1950 anymore.

I have been working at Allen Tate full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Professional, comprehensive, on going training. Full time support. Leadership advancement opportunity. Community involvement. Non competing branch leadership. Company provided lead generation tools. Work space from any Allen Tate office location. Accountability for your business goals.

    Cons

The real estate business in itself is extremely hard. It takes time, money and real effort to get your business started. Many new agents don't have the financial reserves to commit to a full-time career right off the bat. The fees required to get your business up and running with your Board affiliation and your MLS dues are a lot, but this is for any company with which you would affiliate.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work! We continue to be the market leader in the Charlotte area and that's due to the hiring, retaining, and training of great agents!

I worked at Allen Tate full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Desk fees were relatively cheap compared to some other firms....but you get what you pay for.

    Cons

Lack of leadership! BIC made lots of promises but never followed through after hiring you. New agents were basically placed in a room and ignored. Orientate and winner's edge training was a joke. NO help was given to new agents. Office environment was a social scene(or bring your kid to work day...very distracting). Very few people actually seemed productive and busy. If you asked questions or tried to find help from someone other than your BIC etc. you got reprimanded. The phone literally never rang. Salesforce was a big waste of time. This company is all about making new agents do busy work which does nothing to get you started in real estate. Lots of hidden fees too(which you will get a bill for when you try to leave).

    Advice to Management

Stop baiting new agents with promises about how great the training is etc. Put someone in charge of training that is not pompous, rude and that has more real estate experience(not just someone that couldn't make it selling real estate)Pair new agents with a seasoned agent and allow first 1-2 transactions split commission until new agent is ready.

    Pros

Big Company on a Small Scale - Well known in local Market

    Cons

New Agents are not treated or sided with over a seasoned agent, even if the new agent is correct. Have to keep the big fish happy so they don't consider another company
