I worked at Allen & Gerritsen full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Mostly good people. Free meals. Happy hour on Fridays. Summer hours.

    Cons

Unless you are going to work on the Blue Cross account you are considered expendable and unworthy of working there. Resources are pulled from other accounts to work on BCBS and suffer as a result. The new business department can't close new deals and blames it on the prospective client. Office hours are 8:30-5:30 but if you're not pulling a 10-11 hour day or working on the weekends you are "not being a team player" or...

    Advice to Management

Take care of your junior associates. They work extremely hard and do not see a light at the end of the tunnel.

    I worked at Allen & Gerritsen full-time

    Pros

Nice neighborhood (in Philly and Boston). Good people work there...at least at the mid to lower ranks. Some cool stuff going with video and labs but the agency doesn't seem like a fit for those departments.

    Cons

Can't hang on to their clients....even the bad ones. Winning new business is a struggle and non existent. Not sure how they will survive this. CEO needs to let people make decisions without his intervention. He makes ALL final decisions related to almost everything and that doesn't reflect well on their track record.

    Advice to Management

Play with passion. Stop going through the the motions when it comes to managing clients and pitching new business. CEO needs to let the leaders actually lead. Pick a direction and go for it...words like "inventiveness" and "innovation" have no meaning unless you give them meaning.
