I have been working at Allen & Overy full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Canteen, free gym, nice offices

    Cons

Need to pay attention to the support staff. All they care about it their lawyers. We all know they all got a massive pay jump in line with other firms. What about us!! Pay needs to improve massively and also decent bonuses. £500 doesn't go far after tax. No career progression unless you are a favourite to the manager. Promoting people who aren't qualified for senior roles is unacceptable in a Lon international firm. My...

"After 16 years, saw the light and left and it's only after you leave that you see how bad they truly treat their staff."

I worked at Allen & Overy full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Gym, restaurant and Dr and dentist. Support staff in all areas are friendly and so helpful. With a great work ethic.

    Cons

Treat support staff terribly. It's all about the lawyers. No bonuses unless your support staff management. Promote Staff who are not fully qualified and give them big salaries. All support staff and legal PA's are undervalued and underpaid. Have a bad attitude towards support staff and as management say....if you don't like it leave!! HR department will always back management no matter what the issue is.

    Advice to Management

Work more with your support staff, give them something to work towards and stop treating them like rubbish

I have been working at Allen & Overy full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The people are nice. Great training programmes and you also have refresher training which definitely helps. It is a very busy role and there is a lot of pressure. Not for the weak. Good work balance and you can do over time in the evenings to get some extra money. It is a very rewarding place with PA events, afternoon tea and BBQs on the terrace. Let's not forget the free gym in the basement and the canteen.

    Cons

No bonuses unlike other magic circle firms. Pay could be better. Not good pay rises. There are also too many part time staff and older staff. Not as proactive or team players. They really need to start mixing the age groups up and bring in some new enthusiastic people.

    Advice to Management

Amazing training programmes and a good PA manager.

I have been working at Allen & Overy full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Benefits are good On site dr, gym, canteen

    Cons

Staff are not listened to No career progression unless fee earner No bonus structure or reward Your opinions do not count

    Advice to Management

Listen to the support staff and consider their development needs. So many are looking for new jobs as the salary is low compared to market. It seems like only few earners careers are thought about.
