    Cons

Allen & Overy's brand diluted through the lateral hire of professionals from US firms. Also, the divide between the US law group v. the rest of the firm hurts the firm. No work-life balance. Very few women in key posts.

    Advice to Management

To Global: you should be proud. To NY: You may manage a Magic circle firm globally but domestically you are still not scratching the surface. It's not the lack of intelligence roaming your halls. Perhaps old blood amongst staff and partners. Time to refresh. Think global not NY. Also, think about finding professional support from Americans with international experience. If they can relate to your highly international...

I have been working at Allen & Overy full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

Learn a lot and opportunity to be involved in world class deals and great experiences (meeting clients in top positions etc.) Salary is quite good for recent graduates. Good lunch and dinner options (in house). Includes free bike, gym card. Many events (drinks, dinners, parties) and cool colleagues (young and smart).

        Cons

No work life balance at all. Management and partners are only cash focused and don´t care about their associates.

        Advice to Management

care more about your employees, especially in the long run.

I worked at Allen & Overy full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

Great training, interesting work (even as a first seat trainee), a very sociable firm with an informal culture, learning from the best. Pay is good.

        Cons

Consistently long hours - especially in the banking department. There is no limit to the hours that you are expected to put in, and the firm doesn't even pretend to aim for a work/life balance.

        Advice to Management

A hefty paycheck isn't enough to retain the best talent. More needs to be done to make the job sustainable.
