I worked at Allergan full-time (More than 10 years)
Pros
Good compensation, comfortable office environment, flexible scheduling and optional remote working in some situations, excellent benefits and vacation packages. Overall, the best place I have ever worked.
Cons
Changing demands of the pharmaceutical market can make some departments and positions more volatile as outsourcing becomes more cost effective.
Advice to Management
Maintain a strong connection between U.S. East and West Coast operations.
I have been working at Allergan full-time (Less than a year)
Pros
Benefits, great coworkers, facility amenities
Cons
High cost of living in the area
Advice to Management
So far so good
I have been working at Allergan full-time (More than 5 years)
Pros
Very collegial, great teamwork. Place where you can make an impact.
Cons
With all of the integrations, there is a need for some better processes.
I have been working at Allergan full-time (More than a year)
Pros
Employees are encouraged to own their careers and significant development opportunities are offered.
Company has been meeting - or exceeding - targets every quarter, and R&D outlook is strong and exciting.
Very low bureaucracy, everyone is focused on doing the right things and executing on our goals through collaboration (no politics).
Cons
Being an agile company means that there are lots of projects in which to be involved, which can also mean longer hours. But I see this as a benefit of working at Allergan given growth opportunities.
Advice to Management
Continue our focus on bringing in the best partnerships in the industry to supplement our pipeline and growth strategy. Having the open lines of communication has been fantastic - at townhall meetings, with the survey and accessibility to leaders.
I have been working at Allergan full-time (Less than a year)
Pros
- Social contract: Allergan takes the social contract very seriously and puts patients first. Very different reality from the stigma of large pharma companies
- The people: some of the best people I've had the opportunity to work with! Overall, so friendly, helpful, and interested in helping each other succeed.
- Autonomy: The ability to make changes, act fast, and deliver results. There is not a whole bunch of red tape to inhibit positive change.
- Technology: So many tools and resources to make your job easier, connectivity globally possible, and allow many different time zones to collaborate effectively and easily.
- Career growth: So much potential and focus on movement within Allergan. Allergan does an amazing job at fostering development and creating plans to move you to where you want to be!
Cons
My experience so far has been great. I don't have any negatives apart from some of the constraints of being a non-HQ office which you will experience no matter where you go.
Advice to Management
Keep the focus on the patients and your internal colleagues and the potential to continue as an industry and employment leader is endless.

Cons

Pros
Seems like a great group of people. The companys culture is very fitting for the industry.
Cons
I cant believe a decade has went by and I’m still punished for a mistake I made.
Advice to Management
Go over your qualifications prior to interview process like say if youve ever gotten a DUI in your life dont apply.

I have been working at Allergan full-time (More than 3 years)
Pros
Will hire with no prior experience in Pharma
Possibilities for advancement within the company
Like to promote from within
Not a hard job
Multiple Reps selling the same drug
Territory size is very reasonable comparable to other companies
Great training
Unlimited PTO
Cons
Probably the lowest paying Pharma job out there right now
Low base
Low Bonus
Have to sell 3 different drugs
Responsible for specialty and PC offices
Analytics of the data is terrible
Management has become very metric driven in review of your business as opposed to just looking at your attainment numbers and percent goal to plan
Management lacks faith in Reps abilities because many come from no pharma background
Has been 2 major lay offs in 3 years
Has been 1 minor lay off in 3 years
Has completely eliminated LTC and WH within the last 2 years
CEO Brent Saunders is an idiot, company will do better with better leadership
stock price dropped 65% in last 3 years though it is up to only -50% now ~$150
Advice to Management
Let the reps work together and figure out where the best opportunities lie instead of getting reports from some office that has no idea what the reality of the situation is in the territory. Often I have been directed to "open up" offices or health systems that are strictly "NO REP & NO SAMPLE." Why would I go running into a brick wall all day when I could be out growing my other accounts. Management lacks faith in Reps abilities because many come from non pharma background.
