I worked at Allergan full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    There was room for advancement.

    Cons

Should really know who you are putting in charge. Some leads and managers were great, others were power hungry. If they didn't like you your life was a living hell. I was fired because I expressed joy when one of the meanest managers I had ever met from Puerto Rico announced she was leaving. It didn't matter that I was a really good filling tech. How can you be fired for being happy the devil was leaving.

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

Cutting edge medical devices and medications. Casual work attire in Austin, TX. Fun co- workers. Independence. Opportunities for growth. OK benefits, but very high deductibles.

    Cons

Who you know, not what you know is important. Unfortunately, most of the managers lack managerial experience and demonstrate very little professionalism and savvy. I was often embarrassed that a company of such high caliber didn't have matching managerial talent. What most Allergan managers demonstrate to the public isn't representative of the outstanding talent within the Company's mid- level areas.

    Advice to Management

Executive management should flush out managers "grandfathered" in during mergers and acquisitions. There are no checks and balances in place after a merger or acquisition, which allows for unqualified individuals to obtain managerial positions.

I have been working at Allergan full-time

    Pros

Good pay, benefits, and holidays/time off. Fun coworkers. Lots of variety and room for personal growth. I truly believe in our products.

    Cons

No room for advancement unless you are willing to follow without questioning leadership. Management creates new roles, but just fills them with friends/previous coworkers and doesn't actually promote from within. IT is a joke.

    Advice to Management

Stop micro-managing and follow-through on what you say.
