    "Senior Director"

I worked at Allergan full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very good compensation, exciting work. Many opportunities available if you work hard. Pretty decent work/life balance. Interesting business that allows for creativity in finding solutions to business problems.

    Cons

Very weak HR department. Most senior management was not respected because there was not sufficient communication from the top across the board concerning shared goals and objectives. A very 'clique' centric environment. More management politics than that of a typical business of this size.

I worked at Allergan full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They use to care about career growth and internal product commercial growth. Now not sure what is important beside the remaining Irvine employees wondering if there is yet another round of job cuts.

    Cons

It is place to come to work everyday to see empty office, good smart people gone, and wonder if your job will be consolidated and cut next.

    Advice to Management

Employees are what make the company, not the products. Need to really understand the impact of massive job cuts on those left behind.

I have been working at Allergan full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Leadership delegates and trusts you to make something great happen.
Strong consensus based culture for decision making; yet, firm is nimble and decisive.

    Cons

Rarely hires people right out of skill. Prefers 5+ years of experience before recruiting into the firm.

    Advice to Management

    Continue to innovate and grow.

    "Not a place for respect"

    Pros

Outstanding professional and consumer marketing colleagues - this is a sales and marketing company. Problem is that you need good products and there is little coming out of the pipeline to sell. If you are an r&d person who likes to play around but not be held accountable for results, this is a good place for you.

    Cons

Highly political organization where executive team is clueless about what is happening below them; very secretive environment - your team could be doing an outstanding job and getting kudos everyday and then you find out that you are being restructured without any prior warning that this was even being discussed. And you get no opportunity to weigh in on the decision made for you. Exec committee members constantly fight over turf rather than collaborate. Customers complain about the service provided and this poor customer service is also reflected in how employees are treated - no respect, be lucky you have a job, no one asked for your opinion. The only concern is how they are viewed by Wall Street -- not much future-oriented thinking going on.

    Advice to Management

Everyone is afraid to tell the emperor(s) that he/they have no clothes.
