I worked at Allergan (More than a year)

    Pros

    Pay and benefits were great.

    Cons

Terrible work/life balance, awful management (when I was there), got treated like a robot, like I had not life outside of work. IT was like the worst case scenario of a group project in school: Your whole team was seen as the same thing. Individuals were not held accountable, the entire group (and especially the leader) were.

    Advice to Management

    Get it together

I have been working at Allergan full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Always opportunity to engage in additional projects. The organizational culture is amazing. The company readily promotes talent. Management is engaged in developing junior organizational members.

    Cons

Although readily promoting talent is a pro, there is a feeling of predetermination. Pay seems to be more contingent upon where the employee is within their life rather than performance. Top performers rarely receive top pay.

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in developing employees. Cut through the red tape on increasing salary for internal candidates and if there is no red tape, don't mention it. Pay for performance, and keep the motivation up. Don't pass on an opportunity to reward top performers. If the organization can't be managed with the current structure, restructure. Management controls aren't only reactive, rewarding top performers is a crucial aspect of management.

I worked at Allergan full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    There was room for advancement.

    Cons

Should really know who you are putting in charge. Some leads and managers were great, others were power hungry. If they didn't like you your life was a living hell. I was fired because I expressed joy when one of the meanest managers I had ever met from Puerto Rico announced she was leaving. It didn't matter that I was a really good filling tech. How can you be fired for being happy the devil was leaving.
