    Pros

Good job for a temporary bridge.

    Cons

Angry old men afraid of their impending irrelevance.

    Advice to Management

Encourage new hires with actual training and a team orientated environment. Fire anyone not on board.

    Pros

Great co workers to work with. Always stuff to do. That's about it for this company.

    Cons

Favoritism, lack of leadership, poor management. They will lead all temps to think they will get hired on but let them go once they let Howard know he's doing a bad job at managing. You can show up everyday and work every shift bit they will fire you at the drop of a dime. This is absolutely the worst company to work for. No raises, No way up in the company unless you bring some knee pads every day to work if you catch my drift. Do yourself a favor and never apply at Alliance.

    Advice to Management

Learn to listen to the employees even the temps. Don't get butt hurt if suggestions are expressed. Fire all management and start over with people who actually care about the employees and not themselves.

    Pros

Had the basics of what you needed to get the job completed. Had good benefits. Making small home projects was OK with approval.

    Cons

Raise? What raise? Management is of no help if you have a problem with anything. Opportunities to improve or work your way up the ladder are extremely rare, someone has to die or retire. Tools are purchased by lowest price, quality is an afterthought.

    Advice to Management

Purge the old cronies club. Most of the leadership was appointed because the were next in line. Most supervisors or managers struggle with basic communication skills. Invest in some basic management training.

I worked at Alliance Machine Systems International full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

At the time of hire management was very good and presenting a polished, high functioning team image to outsiders, both prospective employees and suppliers/customers. Compensation and benefits were above average.

    Cons

Once on board, candidates will find a monster lurking inside. Executive staff was at war with each other and operational management. Executives were openly mocked. Processes and tools were extremely primitive, yet sophisticated results were required. A direct quote in a meeting of operational managers: "What do you expect from an executive staff that behave like a bunch of kindergartners?".

    Advice to Management

Remove the current management team and start over. What is there is a lost cause.

    Pros

Good company to work for with lots of new development opportunities. Engineering has lots of complex and changing challenges to keep things interesting. Engineering team is also looking for more support and growing. Management has been very supportive of my needs and of new ideas.

    Cons

Like in all larger companies there are certain amounts of paperwork hurdles and wasted time. The recent acquisition by Barry-Wehmiller has made the last year interesting but I think it will be a positive change in the long term.

    Advice to Management

We need more talented people in Engineering and Service. We have lost good people nervous about the acquisition or too heavy workloads especially in the service department.

I worked at Alliance Machine Systems International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Long established company with a large employee population that had been with the company 15+ years. Niche market with little industry competition.

    Cons

Very outdated software and a lot of internal squabbling between departments and lack of direction. Some of the long term employees are extremely resistant to improvement changes to the point of undermining new processes and constant complaining and refusal to cooperate. Some of the personnel in purchasing were very inefficient and more interested in socializing than in helping improve the company processes. Due to these employees longevity with the company management was unwilling to take the necessary steps to improve the function of the department.

    Advice to Management

Stop arguing among the department management and make the decisions to improve the company.

    Pros

Good compensation and benefits to date. Productive profitable business with many long-term employees. Recent ownership has the chance of bringing resources to the table that were not previously available.

    Cons

Acquisition by new owners will erode important benefits. Methods are extremely primitive, and internally the organization has great difficulty pulling in the same direction at the same time. Executive staff have some major personality issues preventing a cohesive strategic planning vision, which hampers the operational staff.

    Advice to Management

Sophisticated results cannot be realized from primitive methods. The organization is nowhere near as skilled as you like to think.

Actually lead the employees with goals and incentives. Create a mission statement that employees want live up to as apposed to meaningless generalities.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Perhaps try listening more to employees. Try to eliminate the "kingdoms" that exist and have managers actually try to help each other.
