    Pros

The individuals you sit next to each day are fantastic, intelligent, hardworking and motivated. The ability to take on a lot of responsibility in a short amount of time. For someone who likes a fast paced environment with a large amount of transnational work, this is a great place to learn. Good benefits from a cost perspective to the employee.

    Cons

Private Client is a boy's club and Senior Management has created an environment that is mico-managed and impossible to have a voice or opinion. Unless you are Sales or in Senior Management, there is no track for career progression. They do not value long term employees and the lower levels turn over about every two years. Its a shame...

    Pros

Management likes to hire friends or people they know (regardless of qualifications), so if that’s you you’re well positioned.

    Cons

It’s quite clear to me that most of the recent reviews on this site are deliberately written by people in HR as they couldn’t be further from the truth. The company culture is horrendous, management is forcing through a move to Nashville to cut costs but has no clue what they’re doing and it’s destroying the company. The morale is about as bad as it could get. Senior management...

    Advice to Management

Why are you deliberately destroying the company? Do you care at all about employees? What’s the real reason Peter Kraus was fired?

I have been working at AllianceBernstein full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Colleagues are great! A lot of smart, driven people and it is a joy working with them. Great products, thought leadership, and practice management content.

    Cons

Middle management of the sales desk lack the sales knowledge, market knowledge, and emotional intelligence to assist young talent. There are essentially 5 people managing 40 people without a value add, while the product managers actually supporting the sales force are being deprived of resources they need. Morale is extremely low and talent is leaving and will continue to leave. The move to Nashville is a catalyst but...

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes to the poor allocation of resources within middle management. Everyone knows this is the case, yet the problem continues. With the exception of one, the managers of the sales desk are good people—but their skills leave much to be desired.

I have been working at AllianceBernstein

    Pros

It has been my personal experience that the firm invests in its people. I have relocated cities twice, for personal reasons. The firm invested in me and worked with me to find a position during each of my moves to keep me with the firm, which makes me feel very valued. More recently, when I needed to move to a flexible work schedule they made that possible for me. The culture and people at AB are why I'm still at...

    Cons

The roles at AB I've had have always been very dynamic and fast-paced. I thrive under those situations and it makes my day to day very interesting, but for some that don't like to work at a fast pace and balance multiple things going on at once it can be challenging.

        I worked at AllianceBernstein

        Pros

If you have no industry experience, it is a great place to get some exposure. The training program is great for someone straight out of college (just be prepared to drink the koolaid).

        Cons

Best place to start is to state the fact that there have been a total of 9 people who have quit over the past year alone. To put that into perspective this is in an office that has 7-8 total support staff. Do not let management trick you and say that the associate role is "what you make it". You are an admin who will spend your days doing things such as prefilling documents, opening accounts, scanning and inputting...

Smart collaborative people in fixed Income which still shows great returns for clients. Firm wide marketing material are terrific.

        Cons

Lousy 401K plan. Equity still in doldrums. Firm is now buying assets. Senior management missteps with outsourcing staff to State Street.

        Pros

Intelligent staff that prides itself on integrity and ethical behavior. Reasonable hours and work-life balance. Affiliation with sell-side research.

        Cons

Limited room for advancement or transition. The firm's culture does not stress employee development. Morale is low and leadership lacks vision. Performance has also suffered, and senior management seems too stubborn to alter their approach.

        Advice to Management

Invest in your staff and take an active interest in their development
