I worked at Alliant Insurance Services full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great brokers, staff camaraderie, continuing education opportunities.

    Cons

Heavy workload, low pay, subpar benefits, lack of opportunity for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring your unqualified friends who are walking E&O nightmares and using company paid trips to hang out and booze it up with your friends. Don't gossip about staff members to other staff members. Don't treat staff like they're a dime a dozen. Dress like a professional, not a bag lady. Follow consistent procedures with all employees rather than having different rules and guidelines for each.
    BE PROFESSIONAL!

    Pros

Some strong talent. Property Casualty teams seem to have good synergy. Central office location. Firm continues to grow by acquisition.

    Cons

The men run the show and have no regard for anyone but themselves. Corporate leadership is way too removed from what is actually going on that is continuing to hurt company's reputation. Inconsistent skill and sometimes poor skillset among account executives who are the lead service team employees. Account execs treat their teams with no respect. Lack of accountability. Lack of regard for client satisfaction and retention. Poor management with exceptionally poor communication skills.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so superior and practice what you preach! Teach and enforce accountability at all levels of the organization. Perform a truly anonymous employee satisfaction survey. You may find that the majority aren't happy. Closely review your operations team. There is a lot left to be desired there.

I worked at Alliant Insurance Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good atmosphere. Friendly people. Understanding. You get one bonus each year based on your work ethic/reviews from coworkers and how the company does.

    Cons

If you're good at what you do they like to keep you in your position. Promotion is very little, and they don't have a promotion program.

    Advice to Management

Create a promotion program to keep workers motivated, it would create a better atmosphere and people would less likely consider leaving.

    Pros

Many employee options for improving and cultivating self growth. Great personal relationships can be made.

    Cons

Run on minimal staff. Long hours and weekends are expected. There is not work life balance. Benefits are not affordable .

    Advice to Management

Each department is not consistent in management. Consistency and a way to teach all departments to treat employees fairly. Not like cattle. Some departments value their employees while others work them to the bone. It's sad to see.

    Pros

There are some great people that work there.
