    Pros

9/80 work week, there was plenty of work and it was interesting, people were generally friendly, very good benefits package.

    Cons

Middle management played favorites even though it goes against the company's ethics policy, increases are given to a select few even though each department has a separate budget for increases. In the department I worked in after my first favorable review I was told that my starting wage had been set a little higher to entice my employment and that because she considered the first year a learning year refused to give me an increase. Unlike many successful companies in the same industry, like Northrop Grumman, ATK does not give cost of living raises.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at middle management and see who is the brains behind them. That's the people who should be rewarded. It's team work and the rewards should go to the team, not just the best friend.

    Pros

Some of the people I worked with in my particular department were great people. A few of the managers in my particular department were great leaders and knew how to coach and develop their team in a very positive and effective manner.

    Cons

When they were at the end of their contract and was time to renew the contract with the government, they made a very low cost proposal to win the bid. And in doing so, they got rid of a lot of their best employees to save cost so they could keep the low cost "promise" they made to the government. In doing so, they sacrificed a lot of quality and ended up with a lot of overworked employees that are currently underpaid and under appreciated.

    Advice to Management

Stop making promises you can't keep. Take care of your employees and they will be loyal and take care of you.

It is easy, the day goes by very fast, funny people, decent pay for the area. comfortable temperature year around.
