I have been working at Allianz full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Management is flexible regarding work hours and they'll let you decide at what time you start and finish your work day.

    Cons

Bad I.T. Systems and way too many of them. This company is top heavy on the management side and does not have enough worker bees in some areas. That creates a bad experience for many people.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people that actually do the work and develop processes around them instead of what you think is best.

    Pros

Good benefits, work home balance was great. Jena is an amazing at her job but she may have been put in a bad situation

    Cons

A multi-billion dollar company that has been good financially for years decided to offshore to India to save money and cut many positions in the office. I realized they undercut my salary by thousands. They do not want to talk about pay. They pretend to keep everyone in the loop by having so many meetings but the employees never really know what's going on. There is a lot of favortism, so advancement is only if you are a favorite.

    Advice to Management

Bring Jobs back to America. It is a German based company with a divsion in America. Management could have put up a better fight to keep jobs.

I have been working at Allianz full-time

    Pros

This operating entity of Allianz says it is attempting a major culture shift. Top leadership wants to focus on customer centricity, innovation & technical competence, diversity and employee well being.
401k is generous, and vested after 3 years. Vacation time is generous. Relocation to global positions is encouraged.

    Cons

Competence of execution is significantly lacking in technology and UW areas. Fear rules; longterm employees have survived by not asking clarifying questions. Leadership has not yet acknowledged the 'iron triangle' of Speed, Cost, and Quality; they do not seem to understand they only get to pick two. Employees are often jaded or frightened. Layoffs of what are believed to be overpaid employees in the western US are ongoing, but positions remain open for months in the mid West and Eastern states.

    Advice to Management

Create a forum for employees to SAFELY point out the disconnect between the desired customer centricity and technology improvements and what is happening on the ground. When you talk about excellence, but the COO stands up in a Town Hall meeting and shrugs, saying, "oh, the new AGN phones? Yeah, it's been months at HQ, ours don't work, either", the message is that leadership is not aligned with the Powerpoint decks we are forced to review quarterly. In today's AGCS, it appears there is never time to do it right, but always time to do it over. This toxicity will not allow you to achieve your audacious goals.

    Pros

    Good benefits including 401K match.

    Cons

Upper management doesn't understand or care to understand the US P&C Market. Arrogant. Do not value people resources - treat them as interchangeable cogs. So large that corporate direction and communications are disjointed and sometimes contradictory. Employees are really nice, but really, its not a feel good place to work.

    Advice to Management

Advice won't be helpful - Allianz Mgmt wouldn't listen anyway.

    Pros

The Minneapolis facility has a great number of amenities, which makes it a convenient place to work.

    Cons

It is hard to move between different business units due to clicky management. Management is constantly changing and you can go from loving your job one day to hating it the next. Other business unit team members show up at 9:00 am, take an hour lunch, spend an extra hour in the Gym and then leave by 3:00 pm with no repercussion. Other team members are nailed to the wall for showing up 5:00 mins late and not taking a lunch. It's a very dog eat dog environment.

    Advice to Management

A team can do only as good as the management they are under. It is a reflection of you.

I have been working at Allianz full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good if you are looking for work/life balance. Flexible schedules and you are not micro-managed if you meet the target goals every month.

    Cons

No advancement opportunities if you are not best friends with someone in upper management. Opportunities are not based on ability at all. If you just want a stable job until you retire and have no career aspirations, then this is the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Be more open-minded when selecting candidates. Someone who is different from you may actually be a good fit for an opportunity.
