    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Allied Business Intelligence full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

ABI has come a long way in the past few years, with year over year growth and a great place to come if you are a true seller/hunter. Great territories and the Sr. Leadership is moving ABI in the right direction. The leadership also takes feedback well and if it makes sense incorporates it into their plan.

    Cons

Typical small company challenges i.e. resources.

    Advice to Management

Keep going down the path you are going.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Allied Business Intelligence full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A focus on technology market intelligence. Lots of new technologies and markets.

Collaborative colleagues in both research and sales. You can learn a lot from coworkers.

Opportunity to own a global market and speak with numerous ecosystem companies. Learn about the businesses of these companies.

    Very few, if any, meetings.

Company has been in business for over 25 years and has no outside investors. Not a fly-by-night operation.

Comprehensive health benefits and time off for a small business.

    Cons

Project schedules are predetermined by the type of research deliverable regardless of market participant count, ability to get research interviews, or valuable insights. If you're working on an upward trending market, there is pressure to work long hours. If you're focused on a stable market, you are pressured to find insights.

Senior research management overrides group managers. Management by fear of projects being kicked back to analyst or at risk of being terminated.

A lot of employee turn over. There are departments where there is no growth potential and people simply give up. Research and sales people change all the time. The churn frustrates clients. The revolving door is primarily due to the culture imparted by executive team.

Company ignores experienced analysts in favor of low cost university graduates (or interns). Analyst metrics favor quantity over quality of work.

Phone-based desk work. Most analysts do not get to attend industry events or meet with clients. Approval required to attend analyst events even if the client covers expenses.

Research written without a client base. Sales not aligned with research agenda. Valuable research not seen by anyone once published.

    Advice to Management

Select a growth strategy and stick with it. Pulling back in 90 days or 6 months due to concerns over near-term revenue goals is short-sighted. It wastes money, resources, and time.

    Pros

ABI covers cutting edge technology markets and is somewhat respected in the industry considering how small the company is.
There are some smart and friendly people there.

    Cons

    Focus on quantity over quality.
Ditches services just as they start to get established.
    Fear-based culture, toxic atmosphere
    Too much turnover
Raises and bonuses are little or nothing.
    Top management takes all credit

    Advice to Management

    Need a 100% culture makeover
    Need to focus on clients
    Need to value employees
Need to stick to bonus plans
