I have been working at AlliedBarton full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

With the amount of turnover, there is almost always opportunities for overtime. They have 4 options for health insurance which is actually pretty good.

    Cons

The company literally does not care about individual employees. Best pray you get assigned to a site where either the client wants as little turnover as possible so keeping officer's happy is a priority or an operations manager who views officers as something more than just a required number to fill needed posts. The only chance to increase your salary is to get to a more prestigious site or become a site supervisor. If your operations manager is unprepared for his/her job or worse doesn't care then your paychecks can easily become random and your vacation time will just disappear.

    Advice to Management

If you want to decrease turnover and the overtime that comes with it, compensate the more experienced officers accordingly.

I worked at AlliedBarton full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Easy to get hired if you meet minimum criteria.

    Cons

It's a leg-up company, no more. Unless you're connected it's very difficult to rise up. Compensation is lacking, reviews don't occur, there is little chance for advancement or bettering yourself.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing, you're making plenty of money for Steve Jones and I'm sure he's happy. You can't change the way you do things so advice would be senseless.

    Pros

    Not hard to get on.

    Cons

Pay fluctuates with post. No matter seniority next job may go down, in pay. Training needs improvement.

    Advice to Management

Train your supervisors and hold them accountable so your officers have a professional to train them to the best of their ability to do their job professionally. Love this company 5 years ago when I left..it has changed alot.

I worked at AlliedBarton full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Impressive collection of client locations to work at. Flexible schedules depending on assignment. Get paid every week. A few opportunities outside the traditional uniformed positions to develop skills above that of basic security.

    Cons

    1. District management out of touch with what goes on at accounts. Recent merger has left officer with "what now"?
    2. Company tends to hire immature and unqualified candidates just to fulfill contracts, puts additional burden on established personnel to pick up the slack to avoid looking bad to client, while these "babies" treat job as their personal social hours. Especially bad if it's a "prized" contract, these types have no business getting OJT while making security look incompetent in eyes of the client.

    Advice to Management

Quit hiring ill-prepared, immature, entitle-minded, rookie snowflake/cupcake generation to fill positions in corporate-level accounts. HR needs to assign no-experience/will train levels to less intense accounts for at least 6mo before allowing into corporate environments.

I worked at AlliedBarton full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Has overtime available.
Most holidays off at most sites.

    Cons

They could care less about their officers.
Don't fight for raises for their officers.
Dishonest about the post you are promised.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management is that you guys need to start showing appreciation to your officers, because without us making sure the clients are secure you wouldn't be here!!!

    I worked at AlliedBarton full-time

    Pros

Pay check was always on time, lots of overtime

    Cons

They will work you like a dog. You will get stuck on posts for 16 hrs some days. The management sucks. They could care less about you having time off. Will always call you on your off days. People always call off and you get stuck with the shift. You always work a post with the bare minimum people.

    Advice to Management

It doesn't matter, the management won't listen anyway

Easy job, good to have while in college, overtime if you ask for it, works with your schedule, decent hours

    Cons

Pay, Sometimes a lot of drama with coworkers, sometimes you have to cover your coworker's shift when they don't show up

    Advice to Management

Raise the pay, and hire good employees, not the ones who half-ass their job

I worked at AlliedBarton full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They did give people interested in entry-level security positions a chance to obtain valuable skills and knowledge.
There is a chance you may enjoy your post and the people you work with and/or work for.
They offered some benefits and an opportunity to further your education with an employee discount because of their partnership with a certain institution.

    Cons

Unfortunately, some people may have a difficult time receiving performance evaluations, a pay increase, and an opportunity to advance within a year of being employed by them, despite you being reliable and your good performance.
Also, they did not like giving out vacation time when you earned it, for some odd reason.
Last but not least, they were inflexible when it came to transferring a guard to a post closer to that person's home.

    Advice to Management

Please give your security guards a chance to communicate directly with upper-level management, if they have questions, concerns or complaints. Open communication is key to a successful business, and it may help decrease the high turnover rate because your employees will feel like they have a voice. Also, it does not hurt to give more recognition and incentives to your security guards and do it a timely fashion. If they do not feel appreciated then they will continue to leave. Last but not least, please provide more feedback and try not forget the ones that helped contributed to the success of your business. We are not just working bodies placed on contracts to fulfill only your business needs because we have personal and professional goals we would like to achieve also.
