I have been working at AlliedBarton full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You meet nice people at the sites you work at. Some of the people you work with are cool and you can get along with.

    Cons

This company will throw you under the bus any chance they get. They will not tell you about your union protection and heavily insist you to do tasks that you do not so post to do or things you are properly trained to do. Before anything disciplinary have the union review and never sign a verbal warning because it will turn into a written warning. If you become an SPO be careful you will never have a firm schedule. Communication from the field office is extremely poor and unreliable. Always text or email to have your communication in writing for they won't have the opportunity to say did not receive it. A lot of supervisors and officers think the badge they have is real and take the job too serious. Always watch your back because the field officer or another officer will stab you. Don't expect many opportunities for advancement. This is a dead end job. If you do choose advance be careful you will lose your union protection and can terminate you for any reason. The site you work at the client can have you removed for any reason and the union cannot do anything about it. I was never discipline and was alway praised for my work. I just want people to know what they are getting themselves into before they make a mistake.

    Advice to Management

My advice to you is to hire people who want to be there and can do a decent job. Start showing the officers respect and dignity. If you do that then you might get the best out of your employees. You can pay them better. If the client is paying $50+ per hour and you pay the officers the legal minimum then stop being surprised that you get poor work and continue to lose sites. After you factor in the payroll tax, insurance and liability you can raise officers pay and still make a healthy profit. There is no motivation to "be great" because there are no leaders in the company only people who pretend to be a boss. The only incentive to do good is to get a bag of chips.

    Pros

It was a great company to work for. Account manager was always helpful and always has your back. The training was also good. Easy to move up to management positions.

    Cons

Pay was ok if you are just first starting out. I don't really have anything negative to say about the company. It was very good to know I could count on them for anything.
