I have been working at Allina Health full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There are many educational opportunities. Lots of different locations with varying degrees of activity. Uniforms are sharp and you get the equipment you need.

    Cons

Promotional opportunities are based on a popularity/politics. If you're a female, depending on your location, opportunity for advancement is limited.

    Pros

Brilliant providers, friendly and professional staff

    Cons

Micromanage unnecessarily. Lack of diversity support. Employees are not supported by management.

    Advice to Management

Promote diversity by action and not just words. Genuinely show support for staff, mean what you say and lead by example. Create autonomy, respect and welcome employees' opinion, encourage career advancement by support through schedule flexibility.

    Pros

Large, supportive, values, promotes wellness, community investment & involvement, leadership, health insurance, award, investment back into business.

I believe that CEO Penny Wheeler truly cares about all employees and patients.

    Cons

Professional development, reimbursement for education. Employees don't appear to get fired for not performing up to expectations while others take on additional work with no payment increase or incentive.

    Advice to Management

    Continue to develop all employees.

I worked at Allina Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some of the most brilliant, kind and dedicated physicians I have ever worked with. MDs that have been in their field for longer than I have been alive.

    Cons

Consistently irrelevant micromanaging by supervisors including "learning moments" that consist of literally 3 upper management personnel that meet with you separately to find out why the wrong rapid strep was ordered, or why you were not able to respond to a patient via my chart within 2 hours (with the chaos of clinic, being generally under staffed and the work.lpad of 4 people, it was counterproductive going through the song and dance, when I could be just working instead)

    Advice to Management

Patient care needs to genuinely be first. This is what providers and clinic staff alike work for, only to be hindered by minoot details that in reality have no impact on our patients (I.e. "huddling correctly")

I worked at Allina Health full-time

    Pros

Coworkers were great. I felt like I was adequately trained in new information. I knew what my schedule was going to be week to week.

    Cons

When new policies were to take place I was asked my management not to ask questions during trainings. I was rarely able to leave at my scheduled time off

    Advice to Management

Be nice to employees. Have realistic goals, we cannot control if a patient is compliant or not. Be understanding about time off requests.
