    Pros

Allot puchased Ortiva Wireless a USA startup. In the end, they took over and made sure everyone totally unstood it was their way or the highway.

    Cons

Israeli company with a fire you mentality. They will work you till your fingers bleed off and kick you to the curb if you stand up against them. They have no regard for their employee’s and no oversight for what the management is doing or not doing. Our startup in the U.S. was purchased by these guys and they started cleaning house by firing people.

    Advice to Management

Remember, people are people not cash machines to work to death and then kick to the curb. Oh, and big thank you from the USA.

    Cons

Week management, that eventually was replaced in full.
The market changed. There is no more DPI market.
    Huge amount of politics.
Their Security solution is a joke.

    Advice to Management

I worked at Allot Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some very good products, technology and many great people.

    Cons

Centralized control in Israel and no trust or distribution of autonomy or authority for even the smallest decision making capabilities. No trust of the people in the field to make proper business decisions and no support for them with technology or resources. Very much a blame culture, not supportive. Run by bean counters who are overly focused on short term quarterly numbers and not long term success, lacking true focus on the customer and long term true solution development. Product Management is horrible, ill conceived ideas that are released before they are ready and are unsupportable in the field. There is no way for a field engineer to open a feature request via a ticket system, you have to call the product manager (how does that scale or how do you track it? Basically you can't and most field requests are suppressed by PM).

    Advice to Management

Revisit your executive team and your organizations core value systems. Are they conducive to growth and retention of strong people with high ethical standards and the standard needs for autonomy, mastery and purpose. I don't think so. Look at Daniel Pink's book "Drive", you need to modernize the way you motivate people.

    Pros

Reasonably good income opportunity, benefits are better than average, flexibility for working anywhere reasonably accommodated, a few very good people in the organization who really want to see everyone succeed.

    Cons

My way or the highway attitude from higher ups, unwillingness to adapt strategy to match different regions in the world, lack of focus on market needs for under-served constituents, actions don't always match rhetoric. Practically no path to advancement.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people on the front line who see customers every day. Be willing to consider a different opinion or approach to a problem.

    Pros

There was a great start-up culture in the early days. There are still lots of opportunities for the technology. They are in a happening market segment. There are some great people.

    Cons

become very bureaucratic, career paths are not clear, management is becoming staid, technology future is not clear. Management is not sure of the next step, nor is theDPI market clear as a whole.

    Advice to Management

Find new markets or applications for the core technology. Embrace virtualization -quickly!!

I have been working at Allot Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good product and technology. In general the customers see allot as one of the market leaders.

    Cons

Too centralized management. everything decided by CEO Rami Hadar. In general the culture is that nobody wants to do anything. Sometimes simple task takes very long time. The company is about 300 people, but internal processes and bureaucracy are like in huge concern with tens of thousands of people.

    Advice to Management

Delegation of authority - allow middle management to take decision related to their duties. Motivate people - everybody asleep there.
