I have been working at Allscripts full-time

    Pros

    Not sure what to say

    Cons

Sunset products, laying off people, health benefits poor

    Advice to Management

Came to Allscripts via acquisition. Thought we'd have some time to prove our products matter, but didn't get it. Even if products weren't needed, there were some TOP tier talent just let go without any thought of placing within the company.

    Pros

    Extremely Efficient at Company Takeovers

    Cons

Recorded message at time of Lay Off

    Advice to Management

Companies that sell out to Allscripts should protect their employees.

Allscripts needs to take a hard look at how they treat employees and why their products and not up to industry standards. Quit buying your clients and start earning them thru good products and professional services

I worked at Allscripts (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I can not think of any Pro.

    Cons

Allscripts bought our division and within 3 months laid us off VIRTUALLY. Just a pre-recorded message on a Group call-in at 8 am. No person from Allscripts attended the call. It was a spine-less disrespectful action. I totally understand why they laid off the office, but the WAY was not cool.

I worked at Allscripts full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

When it was MISYS, it was pretty darn terrific. Hardly any turn-over, family like atmosphere. When Glen Tullman left Allscripts, Allscripts failed to exist as a formidable place to work for folks It went down hill very quickly. It's a real shame because I owl debt it wouldn't be where it is today if they had kept Glen at the helm.

    Cons

Today, these are the only things that exist, cons. People leaving in droves, no work life balance, high turn-over. What exactly has the CEO done besides ruin marketshare with decisions made, create high turn over..Need I say more?

    Advice to Management

Advise to the board...its simple really...purge start over

    Pros

The company has gone thru few merges and leadership has no vision --Their products are not the best, and clients are leaving them.

    Cons

Nice people to work with, and a lot of offices in different cities. Remote hire is an option too.

    Advice to Management

Change leadership, especially in key roles.

    Cons

they outsourced my team via "rebadging"
    the company is in chaos
management's solution to problems is to outsource the function to a 3rd party

    Advice to Management

Clean up your in-house mess. If you outsource your mess it is still a mess

I worked at Allscripts full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    All employees are equally frustrated.

    Cons

Sinking ship, stay away. Ones that are on are all jumping or looking to jump.
Fire fights all day make this seem more like a poorly run startup less like an enterprise. If the customers knew how poorly build the application and hosting solutions are they would not sign on. The ones who are on are constantly frustrated with outages and slow response-time and looking to leave.

Redundant Meetings all week long with PMs that are mostly contractors and don't know much about technology project management, followed by work on weekends all weekend long, so basically no personal life.

The number of emails and meeting invites you send is directly proportional to the work others 'think you do' but inversely proportional to the work you actually do. Hope that helps any of you looking to come in here. They will not tell you that the bulk of the work happens on the weekends and sneak it in after you join.

    Advice to Management

Rewrite this product, keep solution the same without customization's unless you are willing to spend on resources to support those customized solutions on weekends. Process improvements, get your infra teams in a room to outline processes and dependencies and define deliverable from each team and get them to automate for faster turn around. Negotiate weekday downtime in contracts for upgrade activity with your clients. Streamline upgrade and migration process.

    Pros

Good healthcare benefits. Great colleagues to work with. Executive leadership skilled at hiding weaknesses during quarterly analyst calls. Analysts just look at the numbers and not the health of the underlying business. People in the market know the real deal.

    Cons

President trying to model service for healthcare customers after airline industry service levels. Executive leadership lining their pockets while reducing staff and asking lower levels to do more work. No real investment in products. Growth coming from shell game of investing in smaller companies. Core EHR products in decline. EPIC and Cerner dominating the acute market. The McKesson acquisition combines two declining acute businesses into one large declining business in the acute space. Neither has signed any significant new business in the acute space during the last 5 years except some isolated deals. Management skillfully avoids that talk during earnings calls.

    Advice to Management

Advice to the Board. Get new leadership who will never look in the mirror but blame others.
