I have been working at Allscripts full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Company has improved a lot. Some teams are great to work with but some are a real challenge - demanding lots of overtime to meet unrealistic schedules

    Cons

Financials still focus on bookings (sales) because company has a hard time turning them into actual revenue.

    Advice to Management

Get the business units to support each other so the same functionality is not being recreated in multiple business units

    Pros

Allscripts believes in strong life/work balance which showed in everything from their support of telecommuting to delivery of benefits.

    Cons

Managers and supervisors never seemed to have an overall plan or goal when approaching work or their people.

    Advice to Management

Take greater interest in who you hire for managers and supervisors. Make certain their goals parallel Allscripts, not theirs.

I have been working at Allscripts full-time

    Pros

I have always enjoyed the attitude and work ethic of my coworkers. I've also been very fortunate to have exceptional direct managers. These are the reasons I've remained with Allscripts.

    Cons

I haven't been impressed with the compensation (at times it's been WAY below industry standards) and I don't feel that the company values the individual nearly as much as they should. I also see a huge lack of collaboration between departments/teams. We often have similar projects being worked by different teams creating a waste of resources.

    Advice to Management

Create a culture that celebrates the individual. Create a fair wage standard. Encourage greater communication/collaboration between teams/departments.

I have been working at Allscripts as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent team experience. Good Instruction and introduction to a corporate environment.

    Cons

Cubicle farm type of environment. Barriers to get anything done often because of the answer "this is the way we've always done it."

I have been working at Allscripts full-time

    Pros

Flexible schedule, decent benefits, casual workplace environment and fun culture.

    Cons

Management is constantly changing. More and more positions being outsourced to India. Very little, if any career development or education reimbursement opportunities for onshore staff. There are absolutely no incentives or rewards to promote increased or innovative output.

    Advice to Management

Provide support to challenge and show appreciation to your dedicated staff. Listen and respect the client service advocates when advised of potential client satisfaction issues. Speak to your direct staff more than once per quarter.
