I worked at Allscripts for more than a year

    Pros

Friendly work environment. Strong focus on back-office process simplification and enterprise systems consolidation. Good cross-functional collaboration. Willingness to let experts help with business transformation and strategic program execution.

    Cons

Need more focus on customer service, product support & product defect resolution.

    Advice to Management

Put the greater good of the company before personal agendas. Aggressively address the primary root causes of customer dissatisfaction.

I have been working at Allscripts full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great opportunities to learn the industry and be part of a big change. I like my managers and their vision as well as the company's overall mission.

    Cons

Employee tracking (hours and projects) can be counterproductive and take away from your energy and enthusiasm.

    Advice to Management

Allow employees in certain positions to get out from the yolk of tracking every minute they spend on certain projects. Focus on outcomes and not inputs. Think of Google who allows their employees to spend at least 25% of their time on projects outside of their division.

I have been working at Allscripts full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Comparable salaries to other vendors and if you are used to working 45+ hours a week doing the exact same job forever without caring what's going on elsewhere in the company then this wouldn't be a bad choice.

    Cons

Frequently shifting upper level management and objectives; nonexistent advancement opportunities internally....internal is treated the same as outside candidates; bonus structures change on a whim based on stock and missed revenue targets due to poor business management; stock has tanked and still cannot rise; more people leaving than staying.

    Advice to Management

Value the internal resources that are working hard for the company to advance and realize that the bottom layers work the hardest and make the least so don't restructure bonus calculations 2 weeks before the end of a quarter. You can change the top of the tree a dozen times but if you never listen to those that feed the tree you will never be successful....constant change is unhealthy.

    I worked at Allscripts

    Pros

    - It's a good way to break into the healthcare IT industry since they will hire anyone with a pulse. - Good PTO and benefits. - Some flexibility for working remotely depending on your department/manager.

    Cons

    - Clients HATE you from the start no matter how competent you might personally be, because they are so used to receiving awful service from Allscripts. - It can be difficult, if not impossible, to find the information you need to do your job. Clients also complain about the difficulty of locating information. Sometimes you get the impression that development is a sort of "man behind the emerald curtain." -... Cronyism is king. A lot of the managers are surprisingly unprofessional in behavior and appearance. - The pay is a joke. Really talented professionals earn salaries on par with day laborers. - The CEO's primary interest is lining his pockets and he doesn't mind destroying the company in the process. - Have fun trying to work with your "colleagues" off-shore. The only training that Allscripts apparently provides to off shore resources is how to refuse responsibility for any work that isn't exactly spelled out in a document somewhere. To be fair, it may be not so much that they are lazy as that they don't understand English well enough to translate requests that are not scripted.

    Advice to Management

What's the point? Management is making big money in the short term and will have retired to their yachts and villas by the time the Allscripts house of cards comes tumbling down. They aren't interested in making Allscripts a better place to work - they can undoubtedly buy all the good press they think they need.

I have been working at Allscripts full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good salary at start, education assistance program, housing assistance program, Good opportunities to interact with international clients and onsite

    Cons

Work life balancing can go roller coaster at times and need to be available through week-ends, off hours, holidays gets sometimes nasty.

    Advice to Management

In many ways Allscripts has been outstanding environment for a mixed people and provides a world class environment. The only drawback I see here is with the inflexibility at times according to projects and be available even after working for 8-9 hours in office and attend to call once back from home. Also there is flexibility to work on holidays but limited to conditions that there should be an alternate resources... in your absence. I feel it is much needed for the company management to consider and support mostly the women with family/children to be allowed to choose the shifts. Also working hours seems too lengthy as if we cut down the hours to 6-7 hours this will generate more effective and time saving culture in India. Also for child there is no daycare facilities which could have saved much of the ongoing issues with lady employees having infants/babies. Management if otherwise considers these above points not possible then at least consider for the welfare of all employees to spare at least 30min - 1 hours to provide energizing time with trained professionals so everyone is happy and healthy. These days many employees complaint on having health issues due to continuous staring on computers and sitting with no breaks/ walks. If we get some mandate relaxing time with some energizing postures all at once, this shall treat all root cause from anyone within the organisation. Many could not take out time even if willing to due to professional and family liabilities and this is not a excuse.
