    Pros

    Co-workers are friendly. Benefits 401k

    Cons

In my office I found a lot of bullying by management. Discrimination against older employees. Discrimination against women. All they care about are metrics. I was can be a long term employee put in a new position and I was expected to have the same goals other long term employees that have had a lot more experience than me. I was a very happy employee up until our changed management and the bullying began. Several other long term employees are fearful for their jobs.

    Advice to Management

Treat your long term employees with respect like they deserve.

I worked at Allstate full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Good benefits
    -a lot of PTO
-they help a lot in the community
-they will help you with school

    Cons

-most departments in Marketing don't allow work from home
    -the older employees hate millennials
    -5-10 years behind in technology
    -very political environment
    -they only promotion unskilled people
    -They micromanage
-people that work there say they are happy but deep down hate working there and they have no other option.
-they fire hundreds of people at a time in the headquarters of Northbrook because they are transitioning to other regional headquarters.
    -Not a creative work place
    - managers don't respect you and treat you like a number

    Advice to Management

-Start hiring and promoting people that have skills, not the ones that play the system
-be more millennial friendly and allow the benefits you give to your downtown location to the ones in Northbrook
-stop trying to be politically correct all the time

    I worked at Allstate full-time

    Pros

Company is doing great. That's awesome for the shareholders and officers.

    Cons

The company is doing great at the expense of the people who work their tails off. While directors and officers sit around and make up new stupid initiatives and rules, the worker bees are scrambling to make sure to do them correctly. And what do those worker bees get for their loyalty and hard work? Laid off! There are secret layoffs happening all the time. They are strategic about them so only those affected know. We lived in our happy little world until the ball dropped. Some get a few months notice, others are shown the door immediately. All the positive reviews have been written by people who are still drinking the Kool-Aid, HR or senior management. Their time will come. I hope they are more ready than I was.

    Advice to Management

Why bother. They are heartless. They prefer to tell tales about a great culture than to create one.

I have been working at Allstate full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You do get a paycheck and when you leave you will appreciate being away from the toxic work environment. You will have many examples of real life ethical lapses to share during discussions.

    Cons

Unfair treatment, HR is not helpful, dead end, company does not invest in employees and lousy business ethics across the company

    Advice to Management

Keep on bullying your staff because as you know HR will always defend you even when you lie to them. Keep doing little work because you still get paid well. Allstate is great for you guys I see no reason for you to stop your bad behavior because the company clearly rewards it. Make sure to fire people who do their jobs because doing that will not only make you feel powerful but you can blame them for your failures.

I worked at Allstate full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

5 weeks of training meet a lot of great people the pay was decent to start off with

    Cons

5 weeks of training was not enough time . They never showed us real life situations like you would have been having with customers they have a board with goals every day to me it was a wall of shame they say they are very transparent but putting up you numbers on a board for every to see is embarrassing .

    Advice to Management

Focus on training a little more once the 5 weeks was over and I went on the floor as a CSS I was like what the hell am I doing I tried really hard and my number on the board were terrible I felt great shame at the point I knew I was already leaving I just went thru customers so fast got all the wrong information cut my call times and it seemed like my number went up I can honestly say the customers were not in good hands while working with me I did my best but it wasn't for me

I worked at Allstate full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Large company, they provide a paycheck, they provide benefits. Ummm... did I mention that they provide a paycheck and benefits?

    Cons

No work life balance. Management talks about working while at kids school and sports events in order to keep up with the volume. Work load requires a 7 day work week. Employees are told being efficient means working extra hours. Management does not read claim notes before asking questions. Very rough and stressful environment. Management gets pretty combative.

    Advice to Management

If you treat your employees like humans and quit treating employees poorly, work on respecting employees, and try to to let employees have some sort of live/Work balance they might stick around.

None anymore. They used to be a good company.

    Cons

Made up reasons to fire adjusters to thin the herd for the upcoming layoffs reducing those that would get severence. Admitted as much.

    Advice to Management

    Ethics training maybe?

    Pros

    There are no pros. None.

    Cons

Toxic culture where backstabbing occurs frequently. IT department is full of contracts that have a lot of influence with management and can get you blamed for all sorts of things. Lots of contractors so watch your back. You will regret working here.

    Advice to Management

    Perhaps treat your employees better.
