I have been working at Allstate full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There is some potential to make money, if you work for the right agency owner
    Flexibility (varies by agency)
    Some free marketing material

    Cons

No benefits compensation plan..most exclusive agents can't afford to offer medical benefits, 401k or even vacation time. Corporate is only interested in looking good to the shareholders. Technology is so outdated that it makes day to day tasks difficult.

Most offices are understaffed 99.9% of the time

    Advice to Management

Invest money into improving your technology
Pay your agency owners a higher commission so they can then pay their employees appropriately, which will help reduce turnover

I worked at Allstate (Less than a year)

    Pros

Corporate Perks, Unit worked well as a team, Training

    Cons

Upper Management, Heavy Workload, No longer had the balance between work and family with exception of immediate supervisors

    Advice to Management

Get back to focusing on the customers and what they are saying. Understandably they want service and their claim handled quickly. Need the resources to do so.

I worked at Allstate (More than a year)

    Pros

Allstate hires very smart people. As a consultant I always felt valued and respected. Tom Wilson is a visionary driver and sets the bar high for the leadership which is a standard that trickles down effectively.

    Cons

Large company problems...when working across business units it can be difficult to get decisions made because no one is sure who has the authority.

    Advice to Management

What an impressive culture! Keep doing things the way you're doing them.

  10. "Good, but could be better"

    Doesn't Recommend
    Positive Outlook
    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Small community in each branch, with brand name and a large amount of resources

    Cons

Small community leaves branch open to short handedness and if one employee is inadequate, it is felt more across the branch. Hiring should be aided and assisted through home office, instead of left to every individual agency owner

    Advice to Management

Voice more to home office about staffing, structure, online training needs to be expanded and requiring either already having P&C license or intent to get it within a certain amount of days would weed out unqualified applicants. Benefits should be centralized too.
