I have been working at Allston Trading full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company with very little politics. Great working environment with friendly people. Lots of perks such as weekly massage, breakfast and lunch, game room including Ping Pong table and Pool table and air hockey etc. Flexible working schedule with no time off limit as long as the job is done! Compensation is good and bonus is handed out quarterly, which very prop trading firms would do. Management is very goal-driven and knows what's important and what's not.

    Cons

Technology wise, might need a little bit more structure, standardization and processes in place to make things better, which has already been happening.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great job, and we enjoy working here!

I have been working at Allston Trading full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Very competitive technology for HFT.
Management is honest, fair, and supportive. I've never worked for, nor heard of, another trading firm that excels in all of these areas simultaneously. I always receive fair treatment--both in terms of compensation and cooperation, so my own experience confirms Allston's good reputation in these areas. The management style is the perfect balance of being hands-on with support and recommendations, without the downside of micromanaging that frequently accompanies a hands-on approach.
I get the feeling that the negative reviews on here are from poor performers who were let go. I would take the word of an incompetent worker with a grain of salt.

    Cons

Smaller company which has some related downsides like smaller support staff and, while on-call, no active tech support staff outside of US hours.

I have been working at Allston Trading full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The CEO has the best interest of the employees in mind. He has an open door policy and is always willing to listen to the employees concern, no matter how big or small. He is very fair and honest, which trickles down to the management team. Also, the benefits at Allston are incredible. Free breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverages are included. We have chair massages every Wednesday. And best of all, we have a very flexible work environment. We have an unlimited vacation policy, which gives the employees the freedom of a work/life balance. Also nice, is that we have quarterly bonuses and a great compensation plan. By far, the best perk is the people I work with. The CEO has worked hard to create a nice work environment for everyone. This is the best place I have worked, and I have been in the industry for more than 15 years.

    Cons

Really, the only con of working here is the age of the building. Our floor has problems with heating/cooling. There are problems with plumbing, etc.

I have been working at Allston Trading full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Great benefits
    - Very approachable senior management
    - Good compensation
    - Helpful HR
    - Company is very good about being aware of their costs. I've worked at other firms that spend way too much money on frivolous things or don't watch costs as closely. It's nice to see management be conservative about their spending, as it makes the company more likely to survive lean times and puts more money in employee pockets in good times.

    Cons

Not very many, honestly. The switchover to only healthy snacks in the kitchen wasn't great....

    Advice to Management

    Keep being transparent!
