I have been working at Allyn International Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment. Office is very new and state of the art. Manager is always at bat for you and will help you out.

    Cons

Room for growth is slow, since we are 3PL company working on the customers site. Some days are busy and some are slow

    Advice to Management

    None

I worked at Allyn International Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a good place to start out after college and don't have much (or any) work experience. They are very good about hiring inexperienced people as long as they are capable of learning. Most of your coworkers will be really nice and try to help you if you need it.

    Cons

They do not pay enough for the amount of work you are expected to do. There are no raises even if you are excelling. Most people who have to support a family are working 2 jobs. HR is also very bad about playing favorites. One person will get in trouble for dressing outside of dress code while another person will not. The dress code is also very outdated. You will most likely never meet a client but are expected to dress as though you will every day. There is very high turnover here. People leave as soon as they get another job offer. The computer system we are supposed to do our job on hardly ever works on top of everything else. This job is ok to stay for a year or 2 to get job experience but other than that I wouldn't recommend it.

    Advice to Management

Pay your people more. You require a bachelors degree to work here and yet you don't pay for it. If you want to retain your people pay them more money.

    Pros

Hours and days are ok, 9-5 M-F
    Free soda at Bagel Bagel

    Cons

Allyn International needs to seriously replace some of their management personal. There is virtually no chance of advancement because of blatant favoritism in certain departments. No matter how hard you work you will not advance if your manager doesn't like you (for whatever reason, even if there is no good reason). The company has a chance to be successful, but ultimately falls short, starting from the top. The company is a stopgap, you make a semi-descent wage, but there is little room to increase pay. While some of the perks aside from pay are ok, like the weekly schedule or free drinks at Bagel Bagel for example, at the end of the day if your yearly raise is less of an increase than the cost of living's yearly increase, then it is pointless to continue there. There are no other ways to make money there even with supposed "policies" that tell you that you can make more money through sales/referrals, etc. If you don't take care of your people, they won't be your people for very long.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your lower level employees. There are your soldiers on the front line and deserve opportunities to be better compensated financially. This will help motivate your people to do better if given the opportunity, along with you provide now (customer survey rewards and whatnot). Also review your mid-level managers and department managers, as some are not even remotely qualified for their current positions.

I have been working at Allyn International Services full-time

    Pros

Hire people with little to no experience and train you
Provide continued education provided you commit to stay for a specified amount of time
    Have opportunities around the world

    Cons

Hire people with little to no experience
Very flat company, hard to move up and hard to get any raises above cost of living without moving up
Many leaders are elevated to position simply due to there being a vacancy and leadership expectations and training are not provided before being thrown in

    Advice to Management

Be more proactive, especially in terms of leadership, ID the people who might make good leaders ahead of time and provide training. Get all higher management on the same wavelength, CEO definitely believes in his vision and the people but not all managers/higher ups are on the same page or support the initiatives.

I worked at Allyn International Services (More than a year)

    Pros

This is very simply an excellent company. They care about you as a person, as an individual, and as a team. The core of Allyn International is its value and understanding of doing everything they can to promote a healthy and happy environment. They're unique in the way they focus time & effort on team building - actual, positive team building. They genuinely want you to prosper and grow in a professional and personal way. You will not find this level of care anywhere else. I was with the Berwyn, PA team and they are hands down the best team I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Everyone is willing and always available to help in any way possible. The team feeling as a whole is uplifting and positive, which is strikingly unique. You just don't see and feel this kind of genuinely thoughtful effort anywhere. It's rare, and they've got it.

The job duties are fast-paced, but manageable each day. They are constantly working to keep growing towards more efficient avenues and as a result, each improvement works very successfully. It is a centralized operation so you will be communicating through the phone and email quite a bit. There is a lot to do, but it is reasonable and manageable. The winter months do slow down and the summer is the highest peaking season for the workload (still manageable, just more). Full training takes a few weeks depending on your experience level, but it is easy to understand and continue on your own. If you need additional help, anyone in the team will gladly assist.

Wonderful company, excellent team, and a great place to start your career in logistics.
