I worked at Almac Group full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    good benefits , vacation 401K

    Cons

I worked at Almac full-time No job security.Work 10-12 hours a day and even weekends. They hire new employees, burn them out and send them on their way.High stress, high demand, low and lousy support, very demotivating place to work, stay away. Backstabbing culture, there is no team atmosphere, Management is negative, tense and not approachable. Favoritism . Dev department runs by sick people with mo moral at... all. All managers are fake and all what they do is find the way how to fire good people.

    Advice to Management

Advice to the owners: Fire management across the board and reinstall a whole new line of people who know how to effectively LEAD AND INSPIRE. Leaders who collaborate, respect, and include their people in on the process. Hire leaders who have shown they know how to LEAD. Quit promoting good workers to management positions for which they have no experience nor talent for and then expect them to manage well when you... give them zero management training and not much support.

I have been working at Almac Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Employees are very knowledgeable (most have been at the company at least 5 years). Not a lot of meetings for non managers. Very good PTO package. Good 401K matching. Medical, dental, vision are pretty good.

    Cons

There is no guarantee of parking at the building you work in (This only affects employees whose work hours start after 7:30am or who leave the site at lunch time). Depending on department, there may not be any room for growth. No flexibility in work hours/lunch break (everyone takes lunch at 12:00). Lots of nepotism/favoritism (1 employee reports directly to father in law). No cafeteria, only a break room that seats... around 20 employees (everyone takes lunch at the same time, so first come first seated; most employees have to eat in their vehicles).

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees that actually do the work. Decisions are made at high levels and when rolled out most times have lots of problems. Offer hands on training for new systems/processes. Offer flexibility in work hours. Some departments are having really high employee turnover, investigate the reasons why and make changes. Realize that there are so many great employees that truly care about the work being done.

"Opportunity as a stepping stone in IT- Service/IT"

Former Employee - Service Desk Support Technician in Souderton, PA

I worked at Almac Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Benefits, PTO, fantastic team, good for entry level IT

    Cons

I absolutely do not recommend working in any of the IT areas at this organization. If you do happen to find yourself doing so, use it as a stepping stone as almost every single other technician has done. Almac does not value having a decision maker who can understand technology and the best practices. Instead they have a manager trying to manage to different country's helpdesk and their is an obvious bias towards... the UK team. False promises were given to try and fight the churn and burn that is plaguing Almac. The worst part is that the almac IT department relies on "tribal knowledge" from the team to move past issues and train the new hires. Inefficient processes are constantly pushed down your throat as well that just arent working. You will make excuses to users all of the time and try getting issues raised up but the level 2 infrastructure team is just as overwhelmed. Get your experience and go.

    Advice to Management

Value your people. Your IT systems are a mess, your technicians who stick by you are your greatest assets. With each technician you lose, knowledge of the almac environment leaves with them.

I worked at Almac Group full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Almac focuses on employee engagement and company culture. They strive to ensure they are listening to employees needs and wants and work establish groups to drive change.

    Cons

There is a large learning curve. Almac has a great training program, mentorship opportunities on multiple levels and focuses on shadowing on the job activities. Peers are very helpful and always willing to provide guidance and advice to their coworkers. The team work and collaboration is refreshing.

I have been working at Almac Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Opportunity for advancement and growth. I have been with the company for nearly 7 years and with in that time was able to move from an entry level position into a Jr. Management role. Many of my colleagues make work fun and enjoyable. There is a good team atmosphere with in my group.

    Cons

As the company gets larger it must follow suite by implementing a 'corporate' mentality. While this does take from the 'small business feel', there are many employee culture groups working to revitalize the culture and are conscious of bringing people together

    Advice to Management

Continue to engage with staff and remain in touch with their struggles. Work with employees to understand touch points and implement realistic solutions that can be adapted in various applications.

I worked at Almac Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great coffee and tea machines if you’re into that.

    Cons

Change is needed, or they are going to find themselves at the bottom, because all of the great employees have left because they were fed up with being overlooked and mistreated. The micro-managing, discriminatory, and favoritism is no way to manage people. The CS department is plagued with this type of behavior and it’s starting to show more each and everyday.

    Advice to Management

How about conducting leadership class to manager and incorporate some sort of ethics training. Become more diverse. Start promoting well deserved individuals, and not individuals that you like or your coffee buddy. Promote based on performance, not the pigment of one’s skin, and you will have better morale on your campus. Quite frankly people hate working there and are miserable.

I worked at Almac Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Benefits, PTO, vacation and pay

    Cons

Favoritism, minimal training, not helpful if you have questions, unless you are one of the favorite. Then when you don't perform to their expectations they turn it on you that you are not competent.

    "Don't believe 5 star reviews"

    StarStarStarStarStar

I have been working at Almac Group

    Pros

Good vacation package, nice building, some nice coworkers

    Cons

5 star reviews magically appear after a few honest negative reviews. Look for yourself. If you are not part of the in crowd, there is no respect or consideration. Senior management manages through fear and intimidation (especially from HQ). It's their way or the highway. Turnover is rampant. Anyone who is any good eventually leaves because they are tired of being beaten up by management. They are bleeding... out, and nobody seems to care. They'll just hire someone new for less money. Everywhere you look people are leaving.

    Advice to Management

It wouldn't matter.. they never listen to anyone outside of HQ anyway.
