I have been working at Almost Family full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Paid weekly, paid well.
Co-workers and agency staff are very helpful.

    Cons

Minimal support from management. No raises or reviews. Unrealistic work load.

    Advice to Management

Support, communicate and acknowledgement of accomplishments is important to any employee as well as a 90 day and annual review which never occurs.

I have been working at Almost Family part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Expected flexibility in schedule (not necessarily). Paid travel time, although less than client wages.

    Cons

Low pay. Do not know co-workers or fully allow to engage in company (which may help retain HHA's).

    Advice to Management

Raise wages for HHA/STNA. Get us more involved in the office and with co-workers.

I have been working at Almost Family full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great work/life balance, supportive management, family oriented, patient-centered

    Cons

benefit costs, more competitive time off, resistance to moving toward more current work trends (employee volunteer day, jeans day, etc.)

I have been working at Almost Family part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You can choose the clients & times you want to work.

    Cons

No time off. If a family member dies or you want a vacation you take it off without pay. Office staff get two weeks paid vacation from the day they are hired. Clients get no care when you are off.
No raises. Have been with company for 3 almost 4 years & have yet to get pay raise.
Take on extra clients or difficult & not told thank you or anything.

    Advice to Management

The Home Health Aids are the ones out making the money. Something needs to be done so staff will want to stay. You can go work at a gas station or McDonald's for more than what we get paid.

    Pros

Great experience, taking care of patients in their home is very awarding. Great vacation time, sick time and personal time. Make your own schedule. Great pay

    Cons

Management seems to care more for payment than patients needs. No real opportunity for advancement. Health benefits expensive. Very rare raises.

    Advice to Management

    Put the nurse staff first.

I have been working at Almost Family full-time

    Pros

The coworkers are friendly. Weekends off. Holidays off. You get breaks and lunch. There's always activities happening. There's benefits.

    Cons

The director isn't a director. She picks favorites. What's good for one employee isn't good for another. She singles out employees. She takes credit for things she didn't do or had little part in. She lies. She'll say one thing to one employee and something completely different to another as if she's trying to play employees against each other.
She doesn't try to help. She doesn't ask how and if she can help anyone.
Not to mention, she allows nurses to keep their jobs after injuring patients, ignoring allergies, and simply not doing their jobs. Along with HHA's.

    Advice to Management

I think you should re-evaluate who you have as a director.
