I have been working at Alsco full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are some nice coworkers. We were given a gift certificate for Christmas to use with the company catalog.

    Cons

Our hours are getting cut to much. The product we order from the catalog in non-exchangeable and none of us were told that before ordering.

    Advice to Management

Communicate better so that we all would have known an exchange was not possible.

    Pros

The company is Ok if you have limited aspirations, live in an area with little other options.

    Cons

80 hour weeks. On call and working 7 days a week. Extremely low compensation. National Accounts a large percentage of Branch revenues. Corporate unable to negotiate regional cost differences so these accounts drag down averages and force other independent clients to cover costs. Weak upper management who can't manage internal auditors( who in all fairness are the real issue but are essential to the business model Alsco has chosen to follow). Focus is entirely on satisfying Salt Lake who thinks that every region and city in the country can be managed the same and face the same head wind challenges and competitive landscape.

Every position at Alsco isn't worth the time unless you are an RSR (hourly) in major markets. If commissioned or work in any other position you will just be paid enough to get by and will not be proud of what you do or who you work for.

This organization has been around for 125 years and realized that by treating branches like franchises and forcing standard procedures and vendors on them they could profit through rebates and surcharges without being a top shelf service provider. Customer focus and pride in service left the family 2 generations ago.

If you are in a smaller market and looking for a job to provide for your family Alsco will provide for a modest life. But if you don't have a second family income or live in a higher cost of living city keep looking.

    Advice to Management

    None.

    Pros

Opportunity to make money......but unrealistic goals need to be met in order to get
World wide company so relocation is always an option

    Cons

Upper management, corporate leadership, lack of communication between departments to effectively take care of customer to company guidlines

    Pros

Alot of good people work for ALSCO, but that is really all I can say.
Also car, gas card, phone and laptop. That was a really nice

    Cons

There is no cohesion at any place in this company. Not a long term job, not much room for growth.
    Very IBM

    Advice to Management

Stop wasting so much money on training sales consultants and just letting them go because they have a bad month. Also, the disconnect between Regional Sales Manager and Plant GM made like always hard.

    Pros

Gopd place to start a sales career of you have zero experience. B2B is good to have on your resume.

    Cons

The uniform plant is 100x better than linen in Oak Creek. As sales, they'll offer 30k per annum plus commission, and you must use your own car for door to door!!! So minus that value from your pay. Best advice, start here. Stay a year maybe two. Then go get a real sales job.

    Pros

Steady work, timely pay, decent 401k. Sorry i cant come up with anything else to say about alsco that is positive.

    Cons

No chance for advancement. poor management. under staffing. Low moral. these problems are probably location specific.

    Advice to Management

Consider running a fully staffed maintenance department. Actually motivate employees with rewards instead of threats of punishment.
