    No opinion of CEO

I worked at AltSchool full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The wealth of talent and dedication on the education team

    Cons

Top-heavy organization with no clear direction and changing priorities left families and school communities feeling stranded. Lack of senior management in schools allowed for powers to go unchecked to the point that the head of school made students and staff feel very unsafe.

I worked at AltSchool full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Students and families, professional growth opportunities, hard-working and passionate teachers

    Cons

Educators were overworked and under compensated compared to their non-educator peers. Gaps in communication and systems, sterile school environment

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at AltSchool full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

An amazing concept, incredibly talented team from educators to engineers (but sadly excluding most of the former/current executive team). Great pay

    Cons

Too many execs with no unified vision, horrible execution and more egos than necessary, more meetings and process than a huge corporation. They wasted the incredible talent they had and the good will of the market and a long list of investors.

I worked at AltSchool full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-The people here are remarkable humans. Everyone cares deeply about education and learning. I've never been turned down when asking to grab coffee and learn from others. -The intersection of education, business, and technology is engaging.

    Cons

-Lots of changes in direction and strategy as with most startups -Tough to stay true to the original mission when trying to generate revenue in the education space. This means our product doesn't always solve the end user's (teachers, students) need but rather solves the purchaser's need (school admins)

    I worked at AltSchool full-time

    Pros

You get paid?? I guess that's the only thing good about your job!

    Cons

Can't seem to understand their direction after all the layoffs and now a new brand and direction in place. Doesn't seem like we can hire a dead body? Management needs to be held responsible for mess that we are in now.

I have been working at AltSchool full-time

    Pros

    - professional development - transparency - small enough company where you can get to know (or at least become familiar with) everyone.

    Cons

    - major company changes - does not value educators as much as their engineers and HQ workers - platform requires a lot of additional work for the educators
