I worked at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

In order to have a healthy lifestyle, one has to balance work and personal life. At the Berkeley Alta Bates, it was nearly impossible to do either. I was constantly being called to fill shifts for other technicians who called in sick. I'd like to say that meant a bigger check, but, at that rate, it just meant more went out in taxes.

    Cons

Poor management in pharmacy department, poor morale, poor work environment and overall coworkers attitudes.

    Advice to Management

    Just...no.

I have been working at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center part-time

    Pros

pay is good, but that is not enough for me to rate it more than one.

    Cons

I joined from a small regional hospital ICU in this hospital ICU, hoping that I will get to do high acuity nursing care. Yes, there are high acuity patients, but the nursing care was poor than the regional hospital I came from. redundant documentation, nurses just charting staff without doing, horrible untrained, old-school preceptors. they become hostile when you bring up evidence based practice. biased treatment of RNs who are new and those who have served there for a long time. poor work ethics, nurses more interested in chatting, gossiping and back stabbing than patient care.

Upper Management are not in touch with staff. They fell to show the right appreciation and respect to the hardworking people that support the hospital.

    Advice to Management

Spend time to know and understand the road blocks staff encounter and assist them to resolve those road-blocks. COMMUNICATE and RESPECT
