I have been working at AltaMed full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Love the population we serve. The company has many opportunities to cultivate physicians to be great leader. Also if just want to work in an outpatient clinic great place, on average you see 19 to 22 patients a day.

    Cons

This company is always growing so at times can be overwhelming but always for the good of the patients and employees.

I have been working at AltaMed full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Long Term Investment in Staff Development
    Very Positive company culture
    Commitment to continuous process improvement
Patient centered, lots of operational challenges, but working on them.
Everyone is aligned to the mission of serving the community.

    Cons

    Immature processes
    Still working in silos
    Technology not integrated
Top heavy management, costs are too high at corporate.

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in the front line staff and minimize corporate management. Too many chiefs and not enough people at the front line to do the work.

    Pros

I love my coworkers and the population I work with.
I think it's an easy job; the caseload is manageable

    Cons

As an MSW I do not feel challenged by the work, and there's limited room for growth. Because a lot of supervisors are often not MSWs, they are unable to recognize potential even after it is pointed out. I wish they had LCSWs supervise MSWs.
AltaMed does not provide supervision for MSWs that want to work toward licensing, which is the biggest drawback.

    Advice to Management

    Hire LCSWs to supervise MSWs!

I question how they hire some people sometimes.

I have been working at AltaMed full-time

    Pros

Benefits, air condition building , furniture,

    Cons

Trainers should be more tolerant and willing to answer questions.
They make you feel stupid if you ask questions. They train you one time on a subject
And if you still have questions they treat you like your stupid. For asking additional questions.

    Advice to Management

Be more tolerant of new people be nicer and not act snobby .
They hire you because of your back ground in medical field then they want you to learn there own internal system in less than 3 months . It's very stressful they constantly remind you your not going to pass your review if you don't get this. Stressing you out.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at AltaMed full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company's mission is respectable and speaks to the deep divide between the haves and have nots

    Cons

There is a lot of nepotism and bias in the hiring and promotion. They manage down people and do not walk the talk. The medical clinics do not value good workers and penalize/are vindictive against workers who speak out and question the organization's decisions. Loyalty is valued more over doing what is right and there is a high turnover of nurses. Nurses are not valued and respected in the clinics. They are treated like MA's and are not recognized for their higher education and skill set.

    Advice to Management

Hire and promote based on KSA's and not who is related to who and who is loyal to whom/known longer. Address poor performance and keep an open mind. Look at the turnover rate and really do a deep dive as to why people leave. So often, the worker is blamed when really, it's the regional and upper management's fault.
