    Pros

Exceptional group of office personnel. Everyone works well together. No sense of any clicks or preferential treatment. The program here is vital to our Embassies well being and everyone has a vested interest in providing a top notch professional
    product.

    Cons

As the program grows, there is a need for additional qualified staff. Finding security cleared applicants limits the pool of candidates.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. We're all in this together. Our country depends on our teamwork.

    I worked at Alutiiq full-time

    Pros

The workers are very warm, and are willing to celebrate the holidays and birthdays together during the work day. We found time to do potlucks, decorate the office, secret santa, etc. The pay was also very good, as compared to other places in the area. We recieved paid holidays and worked set times during the week.

    Cons

There is no room for real growth in the company. I recieved no proper training, and found out afterwards that my peers were told not to help me when I had questions. Favoritism was also very obvious throughout the office--only the people in the "in crowd" were able to certain things that others were scolded for. A lot of the management were unprofessional at times, letting personal feelings dictate how they interacted with people.

    Advice to Management

Work on effective, genuine communication. The training that was I recieved when I was first hired was not effective, and shouldn't have taken three days like it did. It ran off topic many times, and that could have been used to practice actual tasks that we were going to come across rather just making it an unstructured lecture.

I worked at Alutiiq full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay: For the area of Havelock and knowing other contract works pay they were either on par or a few dollars more per hour, $13.56 at the time of my hiring.

Leave: Though leave was small 3.08hrs per pay period, you did earn leave.

    Cons

This was my first job out of military service. It was extreme hell, I say this because working in an environment where you could hear a pin drop on soft carpet just isn't for me or if you sneezed to loudly you would receive a warning. The work felt like you were in High School all over again, complete your "books" turning it in to your supervisor (if you can really call them that) and be graded on your work. It was a very demeaning job, if you were in the right group of people then you were set. If you weren't you can be sure someone was documenting your every move, especially if you went to the bathroom not on your precious 5min break every hour. The job has high turnover as many times they will have to let people go, so you always felt like your head was on the chopping block. If you were a female, considered young and attractive you were immediately put in the "in-crowd."

    Advice to Management

Culture is the key to success.

I worked at Alutiiq full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The work is challenging and is executed on site at Federal locations across the country. These are major construction projects and generally have 18 to 24 month durations.

    Cons

It is very clear that at the Director management level and above that there is no strategic plan for the overall success of the operations. This lack of vision and planning results in mixed and contrdicting messages to the workforce which in turn results in confusion within the site operations.

    Advice to Management

Practice startegic and detailed planning. Speak with one voice and avoid sending mixed messages.

I worked at Alutiiq full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Are there any? I don't know of any. It was a paycheck? I have to type 20 words here? There's no pros to even speak of except the one time the boss made pancakes and grilled cheeses for everyone in the office.

    Cons

If you aren't part of the in-crowd then you won't go far. Office is very cliquey with managers having obvious biases and favorites. You can be right about things and still get in trouble just because you're not friends with the right person. Absolutely no objective problem-solving whatsoever. Unclear directions for many projects, leading to issues with final products and having to re-do many projects.

    Advice to Management

Learn to be more objective and stop firing good workers just because you don't like them. Your friends are often the lazy ones and you let them get away with more crap. Everyone at work is an adult, there's no reason for there to be cliques like it's an all-girls middle school.
