I have been working at Alvarado Manufacturing Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is strong with a lot of long term employees, several over 20 years. Upper Management is very open to letting employees grow and develop their skills.

    Cons

There needs to be better communication between departments.

I worked at Alvarado Manufacturing Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company has longevity and offers an exciting product line with an impressive onsite manufacturing facility. It's the people that make this company so successful and such a great place to work.

    Cons

The President/CEO lacks the people skills necessary to truly lead the company. He's incapable of making top-level decisions to move the company in a cohesive direction. When he does make decisions, they're not communicated properly to management. As a result of his poor leadership, the communication amongst management is disjointed, making it difficult for departments to effectively coordinate new product launches. He places his trust in two of the most worthless managers at the company and fails to acknowledge the people that are working the hardest to add value to the company.

    Advice to Management

The CEO should participate in management training courses to improve his leadership skills. It could have a positive impact on the bottom line and the overall company culture if he learned more effective ways to motivate and inspire his team.

I worked at Alvarado Manufacturing Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly employees are eager to welcome you in and help you learn the products/industry.

    Cons

The other two reviews I've seen are 100% accurate. Everyone works in fear of pleasing the CEO, which is nearly impossible and creates a negative work environment. CEO cannot let go of control and has a complete lack of trust in his employees. Very poor communication among upper management and lack of ethical leadership. Stated "open door" policy is non-existent.

    Advice to Management

Hire employees you can trust and run the company as a team rather than a dictatorship. Welcome suggestions from employees from all areas and actually consider their comments rather than getting defensive.

I worked at Alvarado Manufacturing Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The shop employees and the hours are the only "Pros" here.

    Cons

Worst management I have ever worked with. Its a "Do as I say, Not as I DO" 1970s factory attitude with a lack of ethics, commonsense and communications. The previous review nailed it and is spot on! And terrible insurance benefits as well.

    Advice to Management

Clean house and focus on becoming a team. Tear down the silos and start working together. Listen to the shop employees and their ideas for improvement. They add the value to AMC.

    Pros

Good group of employee's, but most work in fear of upper management and the company owner.

    Cons

Negative environment, lack of leadership, hire fast fire fast mentality. You are not part of a greater cause, but rather a necessary evil in the eyes of the owner. Owner and upper management lack leadership experience and the working environment is constantly in a state of ambiguity.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of all upper management and the owner. Sell the company to someone who can actually run the company.
