    I worked at Am-Gard full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Easy Job, decent amount of overtime when the industry was booming. Scheduler and supervisors were friendly and understanding when it came to working around your schedule.

    Cons

12 hour shifts were a blessing and a curse. It was nice to put the hours in and receive overtime when it was available. Long hours can beat you up though, especially when the travel to and from locations is upwards of an hour each direction. Luckily job locations varied so travel was sometimes very close to home. Biggest con was not being compensated for gas and vehicle use. We rarely had a guard shack to work out of and almost always worked from our personal vehicles.

    Boring at times, long nights.

    I worked at Am-Gard full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The operations staff is able and willing to accommodate employees with their schedules. The pay is decent, but better if you are able to get on to a Shell drilling site.

    Cons

the pay is not the best unless you are working on a Shell drilling site. If you live outside of the Pittsburgh area, you may have to travel an hour or more to your work site.
