I worked at AmWINS Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits and a generous PTO bank. Benefits began immediately, no waiting period.

    Cons

Shockingly poor management teams. Don't call HR looking for help if you have a problem. They're rarely available and will always side with their managers. Office morale was in the gutter in Jacksonville.

I worked at AmWINS Group full-time

    Pros

    Good entry level opportunity
    Laid back office environment
    Generally friendly people
    Stable industry
    Job security

    Cons

Not a lot of opportunity for mid-level growth
People stay forever or leave within a year or two
Needs to do better to hire and cultivate talent internally
Corporate usually looks outside of company for new openings
Pay is not standardized and can vary greatly for same position

    Advice to Management

Assess talent based on merit and not favoritism. Advertise internal openings. Nurture high performers.

I worked at AmWINS Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The bathroom is clean. Free water and coffee and soda. Wow.

    Cons

Nepotism is rampant and completely obvious. A loyal, long term, experienced employee will be paid half of a newer hire because they are buddies with management? Loyal employee will be written up for minor mistakes while other people being paid more sit and watch movies on company time! If that doesn't scream favoritism AND harassment, I don't know what does.

    Advice to Management

It's a terrible thing when management titles are handed to people with no management skills. This will be the death of the company and it will hurt when you fall from your ivory towers. Been Sloop needs to be more hands on so he can see that his show ponies are lame. Time for a management makeover, Sloop. These people are ruining what used to be a great company.

    Pros

Amazing benefits - great corporate structure that allows autonomy in a team environment. In-depth training and understanding from co-workers. Hours are flexible and they work with your life schedule. True team environment, office atmosphere is best I have seen.

    Cons

This is a desk job - if sitting at a computer bothers you - need not apply.

    Advice to Management

None to give - happy with your leadership.

    Pros

Very relaxed culture for what's considered corporate.

    Cons

Again, a very relaxed culture for what's considered corporate.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees enough to be fair and as pertains to recognition and promotions

    Pros

Everything depends on your team. You will either love it or hate it.

    Cons

Benefits are great if you're sick, otherwise it's very expensive. If you are a female, plan on making 20-40% less than a man with half the experience you have. Like others have said, you will be sexually harassed in the office on multiple occasions, but HR will let it slide and never do anything to the perpetrator.

    Advice to Management

Stop turning a blind eye to everything and take care of your employees.

I worked at AmWINS Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay. Good benefits. Health insurance is PPO

    Cons

Favoritism runs rampant in this company and completely detracts from professionalism. It's not okay to have people taking 2 hour coffee breaks and 4 hour lunches that are all on the company's dime. If you say no to overtime at any time, consider yourself a social pariah and you won't be going anywhere but the unemployment office in the near future.
Also, be careful who you talk to, especially if HR is a gossip. Your personal information will be out in the open in minutes.

    Advice to Management

The favoritism needs to go. Also, privacy issues with human resources is something that needs to be addressed.

I have been working at AmWINS Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A lot of charity work through AmWINS PALS. Perks include monthly massages, casual days, summer hours, catered lunches, and birthday celebrations.

    Cons

Bad location (Buckhead) and some people now have to park at mall. They are not flexible with hours and PTO is only 15 days and a floating holiday. TA salary is not comparable to market. Work from home only allowed by certain people. Limited company mobility. You can't join other teams even if there is a job or an opening you want. Promotions are based on "work," but the worst people get promoted. There are no women or people of color in higher position. There are clear lines of sexism and racism and a clear "boys club." Only certain people get invited to company events or outings over and over again. There is too much partying and drinking and some people are sexual harassed by some of the men that work here and nobody does anything about it. Very little education provided and training is unstructured. They only care about the money they make and not the people that do all the behind the scenes work.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your people better. Train and educate the people you have already. Pay better and fairly. Stop the excess alcohol.
