    I worked at Amazon full-time

    Pros

    Give you several UPT hours

    Cons

Physically demanding in the building is worked in. Must be able to lift 49 lbs. Work 10 hours per day so 49 lbs feels like 150lbs after 3 hours of continuous lifting.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Opportunity is everywhere at amazon. Joining straight after college, it really molded me into a hard working professional. It helps you identify the type of manager you want to become and gives you insight on how a political corporate american company works. It gives you an experience you will not have working anywhere else. It is an intense work environment and forces you to adapt quickly. Success at this company is a mixture of luck, hard work and political talent. Pay is good and stock options are more plentiful the longer you work there.

    Cons

Being a manager that has worked here for 4 years I have seen enough managers leave that I have honestly lost count. It is not for the weak of heart. It is very political in a sense that you need to please all parties involved to get promoted. You quickly see your entire management team get replaced with new managers and overtime you gain so much knowledge that you know more than you boss and bosses boss and even your bosses bosses boss. You work 50-60 hour weeks and get paid for 40. You work 80+ hour weeks during peak. As an area manager you have the hardest job in the building and get micromanaged more than you would imagine. People make decisions without asking you and causes frustration. When working on projects there is red tape everywhere. It causes a self fulfilling legacy due to yearly being ranked against your peers which in turn directly reflects on your pay check. You can work months upon months breaking records and "holding down the fort" and not get a thank you.

    Advice to Management

When you arrive at work before breakfast time and after dinner; providing a yearly manager closest is the least you could do. Get rid of the red tape when managers are trying to do process improvements. Servant leadership starts and ends at the area manager position. Attack the process and engage your area managers is never talked about. Get rid of OLR; if you have 30 managers in a building all 30 can be good. If you get rid of OLR, managers will stay longer and make the right decisions more often.
