I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Plenty of room for advancement for anyone who is willing to work for what they want.

    Cons

Can become monotonous if morale falls low.

    Advice to Management

Learn as much as you can about your employees. It will help boost their spirits knowing that their manager wants to learn more about their AA's.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Amazon is a place where you will work hard but the opportunity is endless. You won't find another company with the growth and ability to make a large impact on the Operation. It's a results-driven, non-political environment that is focused on leadership, results, and thinking outside the box.

    Cons

If the possibility of working night-shift is a problem for you, Operations may not be a good fit.

I worked at Amazon part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay is excellent, Amazon discounts, other benefits

    Cons

Very boring, slow and repetitive, no cell phones or headphones allowed so you cannot listen to music, very strict on any mistakes made, even after first day, you have no say in where you would like to be, VTO is a pain to claim

    Advice to Management

Allow employees there own music, so they are not bored out of there mind, don't play same repetitive music over loudspeaker as it is very annoying and unproductive

I have been working at Amazon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are excellent. While the work is challenging, there are ample opportunities for upward mobility.

    Cons

The culture can allow for very aggressive management. Numbers rule and as a result, respect can not be presumed but must be a personal principle where one both extends it and demands it in return.

    Advice to Management

Excellence should not and does not require the abandonment of kindness. I have witnessed associates being intimidated, disrespected and bullied. I have also witnessed associates being treated with kindness and respect. The former should not be tolerated and the latter should be rewarded.

    Pros

+ The compensation is outstanding. Highest pay, benefit, stock, vacation package in my area.
+ You will learn a great deal about the distribution industry.
+ Looks great on a resume
+ You will work with an educated, smart, and hard working peer group.

    Cons

    - As an Area Manager, your day will be 13-14 hours long. During December, you will work 5 days a week, 14-16 hours hours. You will have to check email/computer on your days off. Not much work-life balance.
    - Very high turnover: Average hourly worker tenure is 9 months. Average manager tenure is 18-24 months before leaving.

    Advice to Management

Amazon extols the virtue of standard work, then runs each building independently. Standardize the standards......
