I have been working at Amazon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I worked at the fulfillment center for the summer, and it was a great experience. Working in the outbound department, I had very friendly and understanding team members, leaders, and management. Since they're set up as Four days off, three days off, I never felt overwehlmed when working there. After 90 days, they offered to hire me as a regular associate rather than just a seasonal employee, and subsequently that's when you're eligible to recieve an amazing benefit package. I personally loved the company culture there, in a way I looked forward to stand-up at the beginning of shifts and after lunch becasue everyone was always so upbeat and friendly. They definitely expect a lot out of you, but my team was very understanding and looked to correct my mistakes, rather than condone them. The only reason I left was because school started again, while they were open and willing to work around my class schedule, I ultimately turned it down because my courseload was too much for me to handle. While I can't speak for other locations, I personally had a great experience and highly recommend working for Amazon.

    Cons

While I personally didn't find this to be an issue, the ten-hour work days can be taxing. The position I was in required me to work quickly and correctly- basically they track your speed and quality; meaning you had to be highly self motivated and work was very fast paced. It was a warehouse, so expectations must be kept in check, but some days the ten-hour shifts could become very grueling and monotonous. While I had a great experience with management working there, I had heard from other employees that it hadn't always been like that, so your experience may vary. Lastly, the point system implemented there made it very easy to be fired if you racked up enough points, while this wasn't a problem for me, if showing up on time, staying the full shift, and not missing any shifts is a problem, I would look elsewhere for employment.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The benefits are great if you can stick it out for a year you can use them. Four 10hr days is a unique schedule and works well with this job. Easy work.

    Cons

Starting pay is 12hr. Can be extremely repetitive, pay raises are 25 cents every 6 months. And caps out at $15.75 as a tier 1 associate. Not much room to move up. Though there is some. Management seems to not care much to help you learn new thing or train to move up.

    Advice to Management

Mentor your associates. Give them the motivation to want to grow in this company.

I worked at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Pay for a recent college graduate was very nice
    -Nice health insurance benefits
-Nice start for recent college graduates to gain some leadership experience
-Many great fellow area managers and smart, motivated people in Seattle (will meet them if you get the opportunity to work on major projects)

    Cons

-Senior Leadership in building was not in tune with managers needs and made managers feel ignored
    - the lack of diversity awareness and training was very evident in the interactions with senior leadership
    - most managers came from different backgrounds and different skills outside of supply chain but senior leadership never offered development to support those skills or future ambitions
-building was notorious for tackling "flavor of the month" issues instead of planning sustainable resolutions which confused managers and burned them out faster

    Advice to Management

Corporate needs to track the turnover and morale of managers better. Managers see lots of efforts being made to make associates feel better about their jobs and make them happy but nothing was done for managers while I was there. This caused managers to have low morale which trickled down to associates. Also, managers need another source to discuss any workplace issues outside of HR. HR team at my building was very "tight-knit" with the senior leadership team and there were times I personally spoke to them about an issue and it was reported back to my boss. Lastly, please, please, PLEASE improve your diversity training with your senior leadership! Females and people of color are leaving these positions rapidly due to an uncomfortable work enviroment!

    Cons

the management hr and etc are never on the same page. Trying to get problems or inaccuracies fixed is a joke!

Amazon has a high turn over because management sucks you have dedicated workers being put through the ringer because the college kids brought in as managers just having fun or whatever reason.

Managers listened to feedback from employees.

Lots of opportunities to train others and be a leader.
