    Pros

    Great benefits from day one, decent level of time off available, plenty of opportunities to move up, open to training you wherever your interests lie, attentive managers, as long as you work hard you will reap the benefits.

    Cons

    Can be unpredictable volume- wise but that's as to be expected with this industry as it is based on customer demands

    Advice to Management

    The sort center I work for does an amazing job!

    Pros

    They treat their engineers with respect,
    Pay them well,
    Give them plenty of freedom,
    First and foremost they care about their customers, they aren't obsessed with being the "cool" tech company.

    Their only expectation is that you perform to the level to which you are compensated.

    Cons

    Some people get very passionate about their work which can lead to unnecessary friction at times
    You really are a saleried employee, they expect your best and you to work till the job is done... Which means don't over promise or you will be working overtime.

    I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    I've been at AWS for about six years all in Sales. In that time I've received promotions, chances to change roles, and it's never been boring. I've kept to working 40 hours per week and use up all my vacation. It's a high growth company and management supports movement across departments. There's an intensity here that I think comes from a high bar from hiring. However, I haven't felt the pressure from the executive team to deviate from the work/life balance I want to protect.

    Cons

    The flow of information can be overwhelming. There are so many services and they go so deep. There are often key roles missing because of our high hiring bar and the economics of the job market.

    Advice to Management

    We should acknowledge the cost of having open positions for extended periods of time year after year and bite the bullet on dealing with it. That may mean heavier investment internally for training or paying above market to attract the top talent.

    Pros

    Work from home, quarterly merit based bonuses

    Cons

    Customers can treat you horribly, everything is merit based, don't get paid enough to be screamed at, nothing changes in procedures.

    Advice to Management

    Make it easier on your agents to hand off belligerent customers. We don't get paid enough to be screamed at, called names, and berated, and then be expected to do it with a smile.

    Advice to Management

    Keep the standards high on hiring. Don't let all the growth lower the bar. Get ahead of the negative press with fulfillment centers. It hurts the brand.

    I worked at Amazon as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Flexible work schedule. To be able to work when is convenient was the main incentive.

    Cons

    Low pay. Even though you take a photo of the package, delivered and showing the correct address, if the customer decides to report the package as not delivered, Amazon penalizes the deliver driver by marking the package as "NOT DELIVERED". The photo is not used in any sort of way for evidence.
    If you return it to the distribution center it is marked against you also. They want you to deliver the packages to the doors and "HOPE" no-one steals them. Either way the delivery drive is the scape goat if anything goes wrong.
    Low pay, high overhead, most of the time a 4 hour block will take you 6-8 hours to complete. You still only get paid for the 4 hours. Most areas of delivery are 30 minutes away from the distribution center, if you have to return and packages its another 30 minutes drive back and those are counted against you also. Driver pays for personal vehicle, maintenance, fuel, phone for app, data, wait times, and any mistakes made by anyone.

    Advice to Management

    Amazon has gotten greedy and needs to pay its fair share back to the employees that make the company what it is. Jeffrey Bezos was just reported as the richest man on the PLANET and yet he pays employees far less than a fair wage.
