I have been working at Amazon full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

    Upward mobility and the benefits.

    Cons

There’s a lot of set backs.

  2. "I loved working for Amazon"

    StarStarStarStarStar
Former Employee - Safety Ambassador in Smyrna, GA

I worked at Amazon part-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

There was always room for advancement if you're a go getter, there was always extra hours to pickup, and I truly enjoyed the people that I worked with.

      Cons

As a blue badge if you go over the allotted time you're able to miss even if you have a doctor's note it's automatic termination. I lost my job because of this. I took a serious fall outside of work and was seen at the ER, I was told not to return to work before a certain time and I had doctor's notification but Amazon was not hearing that! I was immediately terminated and locked out of the employee portal.

      Advice to Management

I would say that management wasn't the issue. HR was the issue and they need to understand that life happens, there should be some concessions given certain situations.

I have been working at Amazon full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Opportunities for growth, stocks(sorry, no more stocks for new hires), benefits.

      Cons

Culture can be better. If you’re liked, you’re “in there”. If you’re hated, you’re better off quitting before they find a reason to fire you.

      Advice to Management

Don’t put numbers above the well-being of your associates.

I have been working at Amazon part-time for more than a year

      Pros

The job itself, no matter where you're stationed is pretty straight forward and easy. The culture is diverse and interesting. You work with different people often and management is supportive. Fun atmosphere. There are some really great benefits.

      Cons

The physicality of the work can be pretty brutal, particularly for those with arthritis or other bone and joint issues. Working on hard concrete for up to 10 hours a day is hard on the body. Pay attention to how you schedule your shifts, because it's on you if you can't keep up. Breaks are wasted of time due to building setup.

      Advice to Management

Figure out a solution to the 'jiffy' issue and the 'break time' issue. If you didn't come up through fulfillment to get your job at Amazon, take the time to shadow a few associates in each position to understand what we do and where are frustration points are better.

      No opinion of CEO

I worked at Amazon full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

Good pay, work from home, supplies you with laptop,

      Cons

Since the company has gotten bigger and the new pay raise your just a number. Everyone makes the same pay whether you have been there 1p years or 10 days. Every representative handles the call differently so it makes it hard when a customer calls back and the new representative handles the call a different way. Not very easy to move up or lateral in the company

      Positive Outlook
      Approves of CEO

I have been working at Amazon full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Pay is okay. Could be better for job duties where you are required to act about your role without compensation. It’s more for experience.

      Cons

Communication could be better across management team. More training should be provided to employees so everyone is on the same page. Also associate feedback should be taken more seriously by management

        Cons

No organization, no real direction, need to train associates in professionalism, need a dress code, workers threwing boxes, burn out extremely easy

        Advice to Management

Learn to forecast correcting, learn to correct people when pallets not built correctly, not wrapped correctly, too many accidents

        Doesn't Recommend
        No opinion of CEO

I worked at Amazon part-time for more than a year

        Pros

I honestly can't think on any.

        Cons

Your body will wear down from walking several miles a day on concrete floors while trying to meet the company's required minimum standards for number of packages scanned and sorted. If you're a hard worker, you'll be asked to pick up the pace for the slower workers. You will wear down faster. High turn-over job. The company constantly changes your work days and hours depending on their need.

        Advice to Management

Treat people as humans, not organic robots. Rotate jobs during the shifts so people with more demanding jobs don't wear down. Care for people, not only your delivery station's numbers.
