I worked at Amazon (Less than a year)

    Pros

Knowledgeable onsite techs and great to work with

    Cons

Only downside TV channel in the breakroom would always be on CNN

I worked at Amazon as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Having the name "Amazon" on your resume is a great entry
You learn a great deal about server systems at a component level thanks to their hands-off approach on break-fix

    Cons

You don't learn much because everything is automated. Chumps from Nordstrom and Safeway can keep Peccy alive. The environment feels like plastic, you are constantly warned that "one wrong move and they'll ax you because you're a temp"- which is technically true. You have no chance at converting to full time if you work in the Hayward centers because you're not the management's long time friend. 22 /hr for a night shift as a data center tech. The graveyard wears your body out, you can get a better job for the same rate up the street. The paltry rate is neatly packaged in a cushion of mediocre benefits, foosball, and the occasional barbecue.

    Advice to Management

Why even give any? It falls under deaf ears because Bezos has created an internal culture of ego-stroking. You are either in their creepy cult, or you aren't. There is no fussing or arguing about it. The most extreme steps are made to keep their customers happy. Even if it means reducing your fellow human down to nothing but dirt. It's all about the customer obsession.

I worked at Amazon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to get professional experience. Lots of paid training.

    Cons

Make no mistake; you will be working for Amazon. They are notorious for chewing people up and spitting them out. Expect to be bullied and humiliated on a regular basis from management. There are a lot of ex-military in management who run the pace like a boot camp. The Amazon Leadership Principles are completely absent.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the current management structure; from the top on down to the bottom. Hire leaders with emotional intelligence who truly want to see their teams succeed. Stop pushing people to the breaking point; it's a bad way to run a business, and you will see your top talent walk away.

I have been working at Amazon (Less than a year)

    Pros

Awesome hours and had to cover multiple locations. Nice perks, but could always be better.

    Cons

Perks could have been better for a largely based sales company.

    Advice to Management

All management since then have left within a year of me starting t he position. That must mean something.
