I worked at Amazon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

-The schedules are set, meaning there are no changes on start time from day to another, it stays the same that you are scheduled to work.

-guaranteed 10 hours a day of work unless you leave early for personal reasons

    -3 days off

-plenty of time to use to take off from work

    Cons

-during peak season (thanksgiving-christmas) expect to work 50-60 hours every week.
which is 5-6 days straight in a row

-Time to take off from work has to be accrued. (example:3.5 hours of vacation per paycheck) which isn't a lot since 1 work day is 10 hours.

-you will work most holidays if it falls on a day you are normally scheduled to work

-some holidays are paid at the same rate as a regular work day and not at an overtime rate

-the 10 hour work days can be pretty long

    -its physically demanding

    Advice to Management

Be brave, stay wild, we'll see you on the next adventure.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazon is growing all the time you don’t have to worry about them shutting down anytime soon.

    Cons

There is no reward for being a hard worker. You can go above and beyond daily and they just add more to your workload. You will work beyond your pay level for nothing on a regular basis. Your reward is more work.

    Advice to Management

Stick up for your people. I really like all the supervisors and I have had a lot of different ones. The Amazon way needs challenged once in awhile. Having one person do the work of 3 people while others can just show up and make rate. Not exactly a good deal for the hard working tier ones.

    Pros

Growth as a leader while gaining a lot of skills such as multitasking, situational decision making earning trust among your peers.

    Cons

Stressful at times and open on all holidays on closed 2 days a year so i am sure it becomes a larger burden on family life the further up you move same as any other job

    Advice to Management

Associates before numbers. Increase your morale and the numbers will follow.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Amazon has provided me with a wonderful opportunity to grow and develop. I have never been apart of a team that truly promoted each others growth as much as I have here. Ideas are taken seriously, ambitions are heard, and goals are in reach.

    Cons

Self reflection is important in development, and this is not an environment that will reward you for meeting expectations. If you can rise to the occasion to exceed expectations you will be successful, but you must be a driven personality type.

    Advice to Management

I am lucky to have a SOLID management team as far up as I can see, but I have witnessed other teams that are not as lucky. Managers, truly believe your team, and seek to understand their challenges so you can speak to them rather than make excuses for them.
