I have been working at Amazon full-time

    Pros

PTO, VTO, VET, MTO (rarely, but it happens), Vacation, UPT, Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, Stock Options, Tuition Reimbursement

    Cons

If you are a picker, you will walk 10 to 15 miles per shift. Swollen feet and blisters will become normal to you. Not enough carts for the number of pickers we have, so sometimes you have to use incorrect carts, which slow you down and hurt your rate. Old scanners that cause you to go into TOT, due to kicking you out of the system at random or just not wanting to work correctly.

    Advice to Management

Throw away EVERY single scanner and get new ones. Same goes for the carts. Fix the Wi-Fi, so pickers don't lose Wi-Fi when picking in the R aisles. I understand that quality is huge, I get it, but there needs to be a buffer window there, no one is 100% perfect and does once in a blue moon make a mistake. Every member of management should have to earn their place by starting at the bottom, not just some of them. You can't truly manage something that you have never physically done.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Amazon offers time off such as PTO and UPT (paid time, unpaid time) and vacation hours.

    Benefits

This could be a pro or con depending on your personal preference - some shifts offered are 4 10 hour shifts so you will have 3 days off every week.

Overtime is offered depending on the needs of the company

Holiday Pay on some holidays (con- it's 8 hours of pay so your check will be short)

    Cons

Too much mandatory overtime. 100 hours (120 hours is optional) minimum per pay period takes a toll on you after doing it for a few months.

    Loud work environment.

You get a 30 minute lunch break with an extremely crowded break room. You waste way too much time trying to get a microwave or looking for a table before they are taken. They hire like crazy but will not add any microwaves or tables which results in a terrible lunch experience.

You get 2 10 minute breaks but they are short because the break room is very far. Some employees will stay in their work area for their break because to them it isn't worth the walk.

It's difficult to find time to use the rest room because if you need to go during the work day and you leave your area you will automatically start being tracked for "time off task" in certain functions. If you happen to come to work and have diarrhea you are better off going home so you don't get on trouble for using the restroom and getting "time off task"

Amazon has successfully lowered warehouse job wages around the country. (low pay for the work)

Amazon doesn't do interviews. I thought this was okay at first. Once you start you will wish they had some kind of interview. Because of this a majority of the employees are very low quality. Their work ethic, productivity, attitude and much more makes the workplace very miserable.

Some people at Amazon will literally just walk around the warehouse all day and just talk to their friends.

Almost no one will follow their assigned task for the day. They will sign in as whatever function they feel like and then go hang out with their friends while "working"

If you have a professional attitude this job is definitely not for you.

Basically only a handful of employees actually do their work properly and even less follow the rules that are meant to help everyone out.

    Advice to Management

Every morning and after lunch the management team will gather all of the employees and go over information and then remind us to please follow the rules.

My advice to the management team is to please enforce the rules you say not to break. It does no good just asking nicely to follow them. There needs to be some kind of disciplinary action.

The management team likes to say they always listen to us and what issues we are having daily but it seems like they only listen to the things they want.

If there is nothing you can do about the issues we are encountering it would be nice to get a follow up. We are often left wondering.

Overall the management is just ok on some shifts. Nothing special.

    Pros

Great benefits; lots of opportunity for career advancement; above average pay; generally positive work environment.

    Cons

Work schedules are not for everybody; required productivity standards can be tough to meet/exceed; as management moves up the ladder, they can become detached from the day to day operation and the ground level associates.

    Advice to Management

It is imperative to establish a relationship based on trust and respect with associates working under you. Obtaining/having knowledge of processes goes a long way.
