I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This place is wonderful to work at as a technician. Your co-works are easy to get along with and eager to teach. This will probably be one the best jobs you'll ever have. Over time is generally not offered but once a year during peak but you are garenteed 40 hours a week.

    Cons

If you enjoy night shift this isn't a con, but because the job is so great turnover is rare, decreasing your chances of getting on day shift. HOWEVER since this company is growing rapidly, and if your willing to move around there are endless opportunities.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent pay: Not close the best, but far from the worst.
Great benefits: Very good insurance choices, and choices being the key word. We have multiple options to choose from, not just a single plan that is take it or leave it. We get stock grants yearly. Vision, dental, life insurance as well.
I get to be part of one of the biggest companies in the world.

    Cons

I haven't actually seen a raise in almost 4 years outside of step plan, which barely kept ahead of cost of living increases.
Many of the managers, in my building, do not listen to criticism. In fact, they try to use "facts" that are contradictory to the point they are trying to make to support their point.
High rate of turnover, at my building anyway, as people look for jobs that are either less stressful or better paying. Both of which are fairly abundant in this area.

    Advice to Management

Open your ears more than your mouths, especially when the people that have been doing the job longer than you have been with the company are trying to explain things to you. If you don't like what we're telling you, especially when we're right, then you may want to FIX what's wrong instead of trying to pass the blame elsewhere.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great pay for unskilled labor. Great benefits if needed, overtime and bonuses are relatively plentiful Work 4 10 hour days, 3 days off, normally.

    Cons

Long, active work days. Heavy pressure to preform regularly. If mistake happens, harsh punishment.

    Advice to Management

Better communication with workers on floor could move up efficiency and ease pressure on workers rates.

I worked at Amazon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible school schedule, decent monthly bonus

    Cons

Extremely low top out pay, low potential for advancement, management shares employee pay with other retail stores and colludes with them to not advance pay.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Wonderful employees & great bonuses. If you go through integrity staffing which is a great hiring company! I personally loved the job & staff. Quit because I couldn't do third with my little one at home.

    Cons

Standing for ten hours a day is hard on your body. I was on night shift which was extra hard. If I had lived in Lexington I would have stayed just tried to switch shifts.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work! Everyone has amazing attitudes and the company is great to work for! Keep treating your employees as great as you did!

    Pros

Challenging work and very quick to change.

    Cons

Cutthroat working conditions. I knew more than my upper management and was hired to help them but they only saw me as a threat so they beat me down.

    Advice to Management

The first person to complain to HR is not always the person who is telling the truth. Take care of your lower level managers, they are the ones on the floor doing all the work to keep workers happy. Culture and values at 'new' plants may follow the company guidelines but legacy plants are like a dungeon and run by using threatening management styles.

I worked at Amazon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Not in a huge city
    Interesting work
    Chance to make an impact

    Cons

Senior management and district/corporate management treat everyone at FCs like dirt. It's like the real amazon is in Seattle and the FCs are dirty skeletons in the closet that the "real" amazonians hate. The way salaried managers have to deal with hourly employees kind of ruins the whole thing.

    Advice to Management

I worked at Amazon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good chance for an entry level job which pays well while it lasts.

    Cons

Short term holiday employment. Well over 90% of the holiday temps will be let go after New Year's Day.

I worked at Amazon as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Smart people; fast-paced environment; strong performance; constant effort to improve operations
Everyone I met was energetic and eager to improve operations in the warehouse. They are quant hounds who know how to use data to make decisions so this is a great place to test your analytical skills.

    Cons

Burn out in staff at fulfillment centers leads to chronic short-staffing and unhappy hourly workers; Christmas peak season is a crazy time and not for the faint of heart! Having grown at 30% CAGR for years, the strains are really felt on the ground in delivering to customers.

    Advice to Management

Improve your hiring practices to reduce staff stress
